What causes cold and sweaty feet?

The problem of cold and sweaty feet troubles many people. There are many reasons for this. Some people are born with a constitution that makes their feet sweat most easily, while others are caused by weak spleen and stomach. Therefore, treatment and conditioning should be carried out according to the cause.

1. Naturally sweaty feet

Sweaty feet are related to natural constitution. It is a kind of functional local abnormal sweating with unknown cause. Some people also have sweaty hands. In winter, "sweaty feet" lose heat 25 times faster than "dry feet", so it is easier to feel cold feet and suffer frostbite.

2. Sweating feet after exercise

After winter exercise, the body becomes hot and the feet also become hot and sweaty. At the beginning, because sweat is still warm, the socks absorb the sweat so your feet won’t feel cold. Many people find it troublesome and don’t change their shoes and socks at the time. When the residual heat from the body dissipates, the socks soaked with sweat will make your feet cold.

3. Deficiency of spleen and stomach

People with weak spleen and stomach often have sweaty hands and feet. The spleen and stomach have the function of transporting water and eliminating dampness. If the spleen and stomach function poorly, dampness and heat will accumulate in the body. Dampness and heat tend to move downward, causing excessive sweating at the extremities, especially the feet, which is more common, accounting for 70% to 80%.

4. Certain diseases cause excessive sweating of the feet

Some hypermetabolic diseases may also cause excessive sweating of the feet in winter, such as diabetes, hyperthyroidism, etc. When suffering from these diseases, the body's metabolism is abnormal, which can easily cause the sweat glands in the feet to secrete excessive sweat.
