Commonly used medicines include honeysuckle, forsythia, bamboo leaves, burdock seeds, schizonepeta, saposhnikovia, raw rehmannia, cicada shells, tongcao, licorice, agrimony, cypress leaves, lithospermum, bupleurum, and scutellaria. 2. Damp-heat accumulation type Performance Purple spots on the skin, purple or dark red in color, heavy head and body, swollen, painful and burning joints, stuffy and painful abdomen, poor appetite and greasy mouth, constipation or loose and uncomfortable stool, yellow urine, dry mouth and preference for hot drinks, red tongue with yellow greasy coating, and weak and rapid pulse. Treatment method: clearing away heat and dampness, resolving blood stasis and unblocking meridians. The example prescription is Simiao Powder combined with Huaijiao Pills. Commonly used medicines include Atractylodes lancea, Phellodendron chinense, Coix seed, Cyathula officinalis, Sophora japonica flower, Sanguisorba officinalis, Saposhnikovia divaricata, Citrus aurantium, Morus alba, Lithospermum officinale, Madder root, Talcum, Cirsium japonicum, Cirsium sibiricum, Tincture of ringworm peel, Kochia scoparia, and 3. Shengpo blood type Performance The onset is relatively acute, with bright red or dark red purple spots, and may be accompanied by epistaxis, hematuria, bloody stools, etc., or fever that is worse at night, irritability and red face, insomnia and frequent dreams, short and dark urine, red tongue, dry yellow tongue coating, and a thin, stringy and rapid pulse. Treatment method: clearing away heat, detoxifying, cooling blood and removing blood stasis. Examples include Qingying Decoction or Xijiao Dihuang Decoction. Commonly used medicinal materials include ox horn, raw rehmannia, moutan bark, salvia miltiorrhiza, Scrophularia ningpoensis, honeysuckle, forsythia, bamboo leaves, tongcao, lithospermum officinale, coptis chinensis, and red peony root. 4. Heat Yin Deficiency and Fire Movement Type Performance The onset is relatively slow, with purple spots that appear and fade from time to time and are bright red in color. There may also be nosebleeds, hematuria, dizziness, tinnitus, fever in the five parts of the body, hot flashes, night sweats, soreness in the waist and knees, a red tongue with little coating, and a thready pulse. Treatment method: nourish yin, clear heat, cool blood and eliminate spots. For example, the prescription is Qiangen Powder combined with Erzhi Pills. Commonly used medicines include madder root, raw rehmannia, donkey-hide gelatin, Millettia reticulata, Anemarrhena asphodeloides, Phellodendron chinense, Rehmannia root bark, Moutan bark, Ligustrum lucidum fruit, Eclipta prostrata, Lithospermum officinale, and Platycladus orientalis leaves. 5. Blood stasis and obstruction type Performance The purple spots are dark red or dark purple, recur repeatedly, have a long course of illness, are accompanied by joint pain, skin and nails, dark lips, nails and eye sockets, a dark purple tongue, and a thin or stringy pulse. Treatment method: promote blood circulation, remove blood stasis, dispel wind and detoxify. The example prescription is Taohong Siwu Decoction combined with Shixiao Powder. Commonly used medicines include peach kernel, safflower, Chuanxiong, red peony root, Millettia reticulata, moutan bark, Salvia miltiorrhiza, pollen charcoal, Platycladus orientalis leaf, agrimony, motherwort, Panax notoginseng, and flower stone. 6. Qi deficiency and inability to control Performance The course of the disease is long, the purple spots are light red, and they occur when exertion occurs. The patient has a pale complexion, fatigue, poor appetite and loose stools, a pale and fat tongue with teeth marks, and a thready and weak pulse. Treatment method: Strengthen the spleen and replenish qi, nourish blood and retain blood. Example prescription: Guipi Decoction. Commonly used medicines include Astragalus, Codonopsis, Atractylodes, Angelica, Poria, Platycladus orientalis leaves, red dates, chicken gizzard lining, Citrus aurantium, licorice, Lithospermum officinale, Rubia root, cuttlefish bone, Panax notoginseng, palm charcoal, Sanguisorba officinalis charcoal, and Cimicifuga. |
