Why can't I get pregnant even though I ovulate?

There are many reasons why you can't get pregnant even though you ovulate, but for most people, including some women, they usually don't know some of the specific reasons. Pregnancy is every woman's dream, because it is the crystallization of a life with the person she loves, and it is also the continuation of their love, so every woman attaches great importance to pregnancy. But in reality, there are many female friends who cannot get pregnant due to various reasons, which makes them very sad.

Of course, there are many reasons why women cannot get pregnant, some are male and some are female. But if there is no problem with the male friend, generally as long as the female friend ovulates normally, she can usually get pregnant. But why are there so many people in reality who cannot get pregnant despite ovulation? What are the reasons behind this? Let’s talk about it in detail below.

1. Ovarian factors:

Infertility caused by ovarian factors accounts for 15% to 25% of the total rate. For example, congenital absence of ovaries or immature ovaries, premature ovarian failure, polycystic ovaries, certain ovarian tumors, etc. can affect ovarian hormone secretion and ovulation.

2. Central influence:

Endocrine imbalance between the hypothalamus, pituitary gland and ovary, pituitary tumors or scars can cause ovarian dysfunction and lead to infertility;

Psychological factors such as mental stress or excessive anxiety can also affect the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian axis and inhibit ovulation.

3. Fallopian tube factors:

Inflammatory adhesions in the fallopian tubes cause blockage of the fallopian tubes, hindering the meeting of the egg and sperm and causing infertility.

Pelvic endometriosis can also cause adhesions and twisting of the fallopian tubes, leading to infertility.

4. Systemic diseases:

Systemic diseases such as severe malnutrition or lack of certain important nutritional factors in the diet may affect ovarian function and cause infertility;

Chronic diseases and metabolic diseases such as hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism, diabetes, and adrenal dysfunction can also lead to infertility.

5. Cervical factors:

If a woman ovulates but cannot get pregnant, it may be due to cervical disease, which is a more important cause of infertility, accounting for about 10% to 20% of infertility. Due to chronic cervicitis or low estrogen levels, cervical mucus may become thick or contain a large number of white blood cells, which is not conducive to the activity and passage of sperm and may affect conception. In addition, cervical polyps or cervical fibroids can block the cervical canal and affect the passage of sperm. Cervical stenosis may also be the cause of infertility.

6. Vulvovaginal factors:

Congenital malformations such as absence of hymen, transverse vaginal septum, and congenital absence of vagina can hinder sexual life; in severe vaginal inflammation, a large number of white blood cells can swallow sperm, reduce sperm motility, shorten its survival time and affect conception.

7. Uterine factors:

Infertility caused by uterine factors accounts for about 10% to 15% of infertility. A normal uterus is tilted and flexed forward, with the cervix pointing backwards. After sexual intercourse, the cervix is immersed in semen, which is conducive to conception. For example, if the uterus is tilted and curved backward, the cervix will be tilted forward and upward, which may affect conception; insufficient progesterone secretion from the ovaries will cause poor secretory response of the endometrium; uterine hypoplasia and endometrial inflammation such as tuberculous endometritis and submucosal uterine fibroids may affect the implantation of the fertilized egg.

It turns out that there are so many specific reasons for ovulation but not pregnancy. No wonder many female friends don’t know about it, because these reasons almost all involve professional issues. The main reasons why female friends can ovulate but not get pregnant are generally: ovarian factors, central influences, fallopian tube factors, etc. Therefore, if a female friend cannot get pregnant for this reason, she should go to the hospital for treatment immediately.
