How to eat Rehmannia glutinosa, the usage is particular

Rehmannia root is a common traditional Chinese medicine, which has a good effect on treating irregular menstruation, palpitations, dizziness, kidney yin deficiency, spermatorrhea, and night sweats. The common way to take Rehmannia root is to soak it in wine or make Rehmannia root blood-replenishing soup. It can be used under the guidance of traditional Chinese medicine.

1. Diet therapy

1. Rehmannia wine: 60 grams of Rehmannia root, 30 grams of wolfberry, and 1000 ml of white wine. Wash, dry, and chop Rehmannia root and wolfberry, put them into a gauze bag, tie the bag tightly, place it in a porcelain jar, add white wine, and seal the jar. Shake once a day, and after 7 days change to once a week. Drink after soaking for 20 days. After taking it, add 500 grams of white wine to the residue and soak it for 15 days before drinking. 15 ml each time, twice a day. Function: nourish blood and yin, nourish kidney and improve essence. It is suitable for deficiency of essence and blood, forgetfulness, hair loss, infertility, weakness of waist and knees, etc.

2. Rehmannia glutinosa blood-replenishing soup: 15 grams of Rehmannia glutinosa, 12 grams of Chinese angelica, 10 grams of white peony root, and 15 grams of Millettia reticulata. Wash the above four tonic herbs, add clean water, soak for 2 hours, boil for 40 minutes, take the juice and drink it warm. Add clean water to the residue, boil for 30 minutes, and take the juice. Take 1 dose daily, once in the morning and once in the evening. Function: replenish essence and blood, nourish liver and kidney. It is suitable for palpitations, dizziness, vertigo, amenorrhea, dull complexion, etc. caused by blood deficiency.

3. Erdi paste: 500 grams of cooked rehmannia, 500 grams of dried rehmannia, and 1000 grams of honey. Wash and chop the cooked and dried Rehmannia root, put them into a casserole together, and soak them in clean water for 12 hours. Add water and boil for 3 times, 3 hours for the first time, 2 hours for the second and third times respectively. Filter the medicinal liquid several times, combine the filtrate, and simmer over low heat until it becomes a paste. Add honey and mix well, then concentrate it into a paste over low heat. Take 15 grams each time, twice a day, dissolved in boiled water. Function: nourishing yin, cooling blood, replenishing blood and producing blood. It is suitable for deficiency of essence and blood, emaciation, soreness in the waist and spine, weak legs, etc.

2. The role of Rehmannia glutinosa

Sweet in taste, slightly warm in nature. It can nourish blood, nourish yin, and replenish essence. It is used for blood deficiency, sallow complexion, dizziness and palpitations; blood deficiency, irregular menstruation, metrorrhagia and blood loss; yin deficiency and internal heat, bone steaming and hot flashes, night sweats; kidney yin deficiency, thirst and dry mouth; liver and kidney deficiency, insufficient essence and blood, soreness of the waist and knees, dizziness and tinnitus, and premature graying of hair. It can be used alone or combined with angelica to stew chicken for blood deficiency or irregular menstruation. It can be used with astragalus, yam, and asparagus to make a decoction for diabetes. It can be used with wolfberry, dodder seed, and raspberry to soak in wine to replenish deficiency and resist aging. 15~30g can be used per day. Usage and precautions are similar to raw Rehmannia root.
