Flesh-colored soft bumps on gums

Flesh-colored soft bumps on gums

Teeth are an important part of the human body and are mainly used to chew food. If there is a problem with the teeth, it will not only cause pain or discomfort, but it will also affect a person's normal eating. The growth of flesh-colored soft bumps on the gums is a common symptom of the nose tip. This symptom is usually caused by root inflammation, periodontitis, impacted wisdom teeth, etc. So, how to treat and prevent flesh-colored soft bumps on the gums?

1. Causes of gum swelling

1. Inflammation of the tooth root: Inflammation of the tooth root is mostly caused by severe tooth decay. When the tooth decay bacteria invade the dental pulp and cause inflammation of the tooth root, an abscess will swell on the gums. When the inflammation covers a large area, the face will also swell.

2. Periodontitis: If the gums are often bleeding, red and swollen and not treated in time, they will further develop into periodontitis, forming periodontal pockets and a small bulge on the gums.

3. Impacted wisdom teeth: Impacted wisdom teeth can cause redness, swelling and inflammation of the gums. If left untreated, a small lump may form over time, which is a dentigerous cyst. As the cyst grows further, it can cause the jaw to swell, leading to facial deformity and tooth displacement or loosening.

2. How to treat gum tumors?

Your dentist will conduct a comprehensive examination to determine the cause of the bump and then provide treatment.

If it is caused by tooth root inflammation: First, take a dental X-ray to check the damage of the periapical tissue to see if the affected tooth can be retained. If the tooth can be retained, root canal treatment is required, and the tooth cavity is filled after improvement. If there is no need to retain the tooth, it needs to be extracted.

If it is abscess caused by periodontitis: The principle of treatment is to relieve pain and prevent the spread of infection. First, drain from the periodontal pocket or gum incision to relieve pain. After incision, rinse the abscess cavity and introduce anti-inflammatory drugs. At the same time, pay attention to diet and avoid spicy stimulation.

If it is caused by inflammation of wisdom teeth: The dentigerous cyst needs to be surgically removed together with the tooth it contains.

3. How to avoid the recurrence of gingival bulge?

1. Pay attention to oral hygiene

Actively prevent tooth decay and periodontitis, brush your teeth carefully, eliminate or reduce food impaction, and develop the habit of rinsing your mouth after meals.

2. Early detection and early treatment

Pay more attention to the signs of oral diseases. If you experience red and swollen gums, bad breath, or bleeding when brushing or biting hard objects, you must go to a regular hospital for timely treatment without delay. It is recommended to have an oral examination every six months or one year. If you have cavities, you should fill them in time and have impacted wisdom teeth extracted as soon as possible.

3. Change bad habits

Resolutely quit bad habits that are harmful to periodontal tissues, such as smoking, drinking, and unilateral chewing.

4. Pay attention to your diet

Eat more high-protein and vitamin-rich foods, and do not eat large-grain, crude-fiber foods for a long time to avoid mechanical compression and stimulation to the diseased periodontal tissue, which will aggravate malnutrition of the periodontal tissue, gingival atrophy, and alveolar bone absorption.
