What is the difference between gingivitis and periodontitis?

Gingivitis and periodontitis are actually both dental diseases. Once they occur, it is no exaggeration to say that it is extremely painful for the patient. Therefore, we must be careful to distinguish and understand that gingivitis will cause symptoms of red and swollen gums, while periodontitis is much more serious than gingivitis and causes greater harm to the human body.

1. Gingivitis is only an inflammation of the gum tissue, which causes redness, swelling, and disappearance of spots; while periodontitis involves not only inflammation of the gums, but also inflammation of the entire periodontal tissue.

2. Although gingivitis can deepen the gingival sulcus due to redness and swelling of the gums , there is no formation of periodontal pockets. Periodontitis causes periodontal pockets to form due to the degeneration and destruction of gingival fibers and the proliferation of junctional epithelium toward the root.

3. Gingivitis does not cause bone destruction , so there is no bone absorption on the X-ray. On periodontitis X-rays, the height of the alveolar ridge can be seen to be reduced and horizontal absorption occurs. Alveolar bone resorption near the root surface may also occur in the form of vertical or angular bone resorption. This type of bone resorption manifests clinically as subbone pockets.

4. Gingivitis does not cause teeth to become loose , but teeth may shift and become loose in the late stages of periodontitis.

The symptoms of periodontitis are much more serious than those of gingivitis and are more harmful to the human body.

Treatment:

Whether it is gingivitis or periodontitis, timely treatment is required to avoid severe symptoms. Use Xinglin Ji Dong Heng Ya Xuan Fang, dip the tooth powder in it and brush your teeth once in the morning and evening before brushing your teeth. It can reduce inflammation, kill bacteria and repair gums.

Precautions:

1. The symptoms of gingivitis can be improved through timely self-treatment. First of all, you need to pay attention to dietary conditioning, eat light and easily digestible food, and avoid spicy, irritating, and cold food.

2 After being ill, rinse your mouth with saline or medicated mouthwash. Keep your mouth tightly closed when rinsing, and use your cheeks, lips, and tongue to fully activate the mouthwash so that it repeatedly impacts the gaps between teeth and food residues elsewhere, and then spit it out.
