What are the symptoms of chronic sinusitis?

The common symptoms of chronic sinusitis patients are runny nose, accompanied by symptoms such as decreased sense of smell. As the disease worsens, systemic symptoms will also appear, such as lack of energy, memory loss, frequent dizziness and other problems.

1. Runny nose : mostly purulent, yellow, green or gray-green. Patients with a long course of illness may have nasal discharge with breath. Purulent discharge can often flow from the posterior nasal cavity to the throat. Patients feel that there is phlegm in the throat, which is often spit out after suctioning the throat.

2. Nasal congestion: It is caused by congestion of nasal mucosa, hypertrophy of nasal concha or nasal polyps. Sometimes it can also be caused by too much purulent mucus. The nasal congestion will be relieved after blowing out the nose.

3. Decreased sense of smell : This is mostly caused by two reasons. One is that the nasal mucosa is swollen and blocked, and the airflow cannot enter the olfactory area. The other is that the olfactory mucosa is stimulated by chronic inflammation for a long time, and the olfactory function is reduced or disappears.

4. Dizziness and headache: Chronic sinusitis is often manifested by a feeling of heaviness in the head, and acute attacks may cause headaches, both of which are caused by poor drainage in the sinuses.

5. Systemic symptoms : lack of energy, fatigue, dizziness, and memory loss.

TCM diagnosis and treatment of diseases:

1. Lung Qi deficiency and cold type: nasal congestion, sticky and purulent mucus, decreased sense of smell, aggravated nasal congestion and runny nose by slight stimulation such as wind and cold, fatigue, shortness of breath, dizziness, or cough, pale tongue, thin white fur, and slow pulse.

2. Spleen deficiency type: nasal congestion, sticky and purulent mucus, decreased sense of smell, shortness of breath and fatigue, poor appetite and abdominal distension, pale complexion, loose stools, pale tongue, thin white fur, and slow and weak pulse.
