Traditional Chinese medicine treats varicocele, and the effect of traditional Chinese medicine treatment is good

Varicocele usually occurs on the left side, and the patient will experience symptoms of heaviness and swelling. Severe cases may affect fertility and require timely treatment. Traditional Chinese medicine is effective in treating varicocele. It can provide dialectical treatment based on the patient's type and help the patient recover as soon as possible.

(I) Damp-heat and blood stasis syndrome

The treatment principle is to clear away heat and dampness, resolve blood stasis and dredge the meridians. The prescription is Fangji Zelan Decoction with modifications. The prescription uses Stephania tetrandra and Radix Dioscoreae to eliminate dampness; Artemisia capillaris to clear heat and eliminate dampness; Zedoariae rhizoma, Achyranthes bidentata, Paeonia lactiflora, Cortex Moutan and Salvia miltiorrhiza to promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis to unclog the blood vessels; Litchi seed, Toosendan fruit and Bupleurum chinense to soothe the liver and regulate qi; Green tangerine peel to regulate qi, strengthen the spleen and dry dampness. If the dampness is more severe and anorexia occurs, add Atractylodes lancea and malt; if the scrotal swelling is obvious, add frankincense and Prunella vulgaris.

(II) Cold Stagnation in the Liver Pulse

The treatment principle is to warm the meridians and dispel cold, invigorate Qi and unclog the collaterals. The prescription is Danggui Sini Decoction combined with Liangfu Pills with modifications. The prescription uses angelica and peony to nourish and harmonize blood; cinnamon twig is pungent and warm, combined with asarum and fennel to warm and disperse the cold evil in the lower part of the body; roasted licorice and jujube are sweet and warm to invigorate qi, which not only help angelica and peony to harmonize blood, but also help cinnamon and pungent to promote yang; bupleurum, tangerine seed, and ginger soothe the liver, regulate qi and relieve pain; replace cyperus with aconite root, and combine with tongcao to warm and unblock the meridians, so that the meridians are unblocked, the yang qi is invigorated, and the external cold is eliminated. For those with obvious qi deficiency, use roasted Astragalus and Codonopsis; if the pain is severe, add Salvia miltiorrhiza and Linderae scutellariae.

(III) Blood Stasis and Collateral Blockage Syndrome

The treatment principle is to promote blood circulation, remove blood stasis, dredge meridians and relieve pain. The prescription is Shaofu Zhuyu Decoction with modifications. The prescription uses Angelica sinensis, Ligusticum chuanxiong, and Red Peony Root to promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis; Shixiao Powder to unclog blood vessels, remove blood stasis and relieve pain; Corydalis yanhusuo to promote qi and relieve pain; fennel and dried ginger to warm and unclog blood vessels. If the lump is large, add soapberry thorn and litchi seed; if the pain is severe, add Panax notoginseng and Toosendan fruit.

(IV) Liver and Kidney Deficiency Syndrome

The treatment principle is to nourish the liver and kidneys, and assist with unblocking the meridians. The prescription is Zuogui Pills with added ingredients. In the formula, cooked rehmannia, yam, dodder seed, antler glue, and tortoise shell glue nourish the kidney and replenish essence; cornus fruit and wolfberry fruit nourish the liver and tendons, while lindera stalk and fennel are added to promote qi and relieve pain; angelica, salvia miltiorrhiza, and Millettia reticulata nourish blood, remove blood stasis, and unclog the meridians.

2. Single prescription treatment

1. Take 1g of Qilin Powder and 6g of whole wolfberry, decoct them into a water soup, twice a day. Suitable for varicocele caused by blood stasis blocking the collaterals.

2. Take 30g of Astragalus, 30g of Millettia reticulata, 10g of fennel, 30g of Salvia miltiorrhiza, 10g of Safflower, and 10g of Notopterygium wilfordii, decocted in water, and used for fumigation and washing locally for 30 minutes each time, twice a day. Each dose of medicine can be used for 2 to 3 days.
