Detailed explanation of how TCM treats molluscum contagiosum

Molluscum contagiosum is a relatively common infectious skin disease in life. There are many treatments for it. If the symptoms are mild and it happens to children, it is recommended to maintain good hygiene and use Chinese medicine treatment, and it can be cured quickly.

Tuling Yijiang Soup

35g each of wild yam and raw coix seed, 15g each of Patrinia scabra, Lithospermum officinale root, Isatis indigotica root, Forsythia suspensa, Isatis indigotica leaf, and Taraxacum mongolicum, and 10g of Fleabane. Take one dose daily, decoct in water and take on an empty stomach in the morning and evening.

This prescription has the functions of clearing away heat and detoxifying, reducing swelling and dispersing nodules, and promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis. It was reported that 275 cases of molluscum contagiosum were treated with it, with 176 cases cured, 29 cases improved, and 70 cases ineffective. The minimum number of doses was 3, the maximum was 18, and the average was 5.3 doses.

Jingfang Chaiqin Decoction

10g each of Schizonepeta, Saposhnikovia, Chinese Angelica, and Cicada Periostra, 15g each of Bupleurum, Red Peony Root, Bombyx Batryticatus, and Scutellaria, 30g each of Coix Seed and Isatis Indigotica, and 6g of Licorice. Take one dose daily, decoct in water and drink warm in divided doses.

At the same time, use the external wash formula: 15g each of Schizonepeta, Saposhnikovia, Bupleurum, Bombyx Batryticatus, 40g each of Coix seed and sulfur, 30g each of Isatis indigotica and alum. Decoction the above 6 herbs in water to extract 150ml of juice, then add rhubarb and alum. When washing externally, first prick the top of the soft wart, squeeze out the white tofu-like substance, and then use this prescription for internal and external washing.

Jiedu Pinggan Decoction

30g each of raw coix seed, isatis indigotica leaf, isatis root, oyster powder, 15g each of patrinia herb and selfheal, and 10g of red peony root. After routine local disinfection, use small twist-nosed forceps to directly clamp the wart and quickly remove it (together with its contents). If the wart is large, it can be peeled off at the base first and then removed in several times. Use sterile gauze to apply pressure to stop bleeding and avoid infection. If the warts are in groups and the wound is large after removal, they can be bandaged. If there are few warts, remove them all at once; if there are many warts, remove them in batches with an interval of 5 to 7 days. Avoid contact with water after removal to prevent infection. Then take 5 to 7 doses of the above medicine, decoct it in water and take the juice warm in several doses.
