What are the symptoms of leukemia?

The occurrence of leukemia will directly threaten people's minds, so we should understand the symptoms of leukemia and focus on timely detection and timely treatment. It often manifests as headaches, nausea and vomiting, or anemia, and unexplained lymph node enlargement.

1. Neurological symptoms such as headache, nausea, vomiting, hemiplegia, loss of consciousness, etc.

2. Anemia. It is often the first symptom of leukemia, mainly manifested by pale complexion, weakness, sweating, shortness of breath and rapid heartbeat whether in activity or rest. It gets worse over time. The more severe the anemia is, the more serious the leukemia is. However, other causes such as hemorrhoids, gastrointestinal bleeding, excessive menstruation and other blood loss should be ruled out. Picky eating and other reasons can also cause nutritional deficiency anemia.

3. Unexplained painless swelling

Most leukemia patients have enlarged superficial lymph nodes, which are common in the submandibular, cervical, supraclavicular, axillae and groin areas. There is often no obvious pain. Physical examination may reveal enlarged liver and spleen, and obvious tenderness under the sternum, which is a manifestation of a large number of leukemia cells infiltrating the bone marrow.

4. Bleeding

Nearly 40% of leukemias present with bleeding as an early symptom. Bleeding can occur in various parts of the body, with common symptoms being unexplained bruises on the skin, bleeding from the mouth, nose, gums, and excessive menstruation. Blurred retina often indicates that the patient has retinal hemorrhage; severe headache accompanied by nausea and vomiting often indicates that the patient has intracranial hemorrhage. Therefore, if the above situation occurs, you should go to the hospital for treatment in time.

5. Fever

More than half of the patients think that fever is an early symptom, which can be a low fever below 38 degrees or a high fever above 39 degrees or even 40 degrees. Most of them are recurrent irregular fevers, and when they occur, there are often symptoms of respiratory tract infection such as nasal congestion, runny nose, and cough, or symptoms of urinary tract infection such as anemia and urgency, which often lead to misdiagnosis. If you check the patient's peripheral blood at this time, you can see a large number of abnormal cells.
