The percolation cylinder is a cylindrical device with an open top and a percolation outlet at the bottom. The wine flows in from the top, slowly seeps through the snake stem, and flows out from the percolation outlet at the bottom. This method can create a good concentration difference, the leaching effect is better than the immersion method, the component extraction is more complete, and the production time is short. It can also be infiltrated repeatedly, and if conditions permit, it can be pressurized, heated or countercurrent infiltration, but it requires certain equipment.

Medicinal brewing method: This was a commonly used method in ancient China. This method uses rice, koji and medicine to directly ferment into wine, which is the best way to produce snake wine. This method can extract the effective ingredients in snakes very well, and the wine is pure in color.

Regardless of the method used to prepare snake wine, the containers and personnel must meet hygiene requirements. Containers should be made of ceramics, glass, etc., and lead or iron utensils should not be used. During the preparation of snake wine, a certain amount of flavor corrector and colorant can be added to moderate the medicinal properties, facilitate administration and improve the quality of the preparation. The flavoring agents used are mainly sweeteners, such as brown sugar, white sugar, rock sugar, stevia sugar, honey, etc. Colorants include bamboo yellow, Millettia reticulata, etc.

Before the finished snake wine is canned, it must be clarified and filtered to remove suspended matter and sediment. The commonly used method is to add egg white powder, about 1% and mix well. Another method is through medium filtration. For large production volumes, a plate and frame filter press can be used. Snake wine is generally allowed to have a small amount of sediment, most of which is natural sediment.
