The liver is an organ that metabolizes toxins in the human body, so it carries out a very important job. If a person has liver problems, his life will probably become a mess. In traditional Chinese medicine, there are many types of liver diseases, such as liver qi stagnation. However, we come into contact with more Western medicine in our daily lives, and many friends don’t know much about this disease. Today, I will briefly analyze what does liver qi stagnation mean? Causes and common diseases The disease is mostly caused by depression, sudden mental stimulation or invasion of other pathogenic factors. When the liver fails to release its Qi, Qi becomes stagnant, causing depression; if the depression is not relieved for a long time, it loses its soft and comfortable nature, causing impatience and anger. Stagnation of Qi produces phlegm, which rises with Qi. When phlegm is gathered in the throat, it is called plum pit qi. When phlegm accumulates in the neck, it is called goiter. Qi disease affects the blood, causing Qi stagnation and blood stasis, and Chong and Ren meridians being out of balance, resulting in irregular menstruation or abdominal pain during menstruation. Qi gathers and blood clots, which eventually turn into lumps and accumulations over time. examine 1. Liver Qi Discomfort Visible symptoms include blood stasis, bleeding, irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, metrorrhagia, depression, dizziness, fatigue, vomiting, insomnia, irritability, poor appetite, etc. 2. Liver Qi has no support Liver Qi depends on liver blood. Now that the heart cannot circulate blood, the liver has no blood to store, so the liver Qi has no support. 3. Liver Qi pain in the ribs Symptoms include distension and pain in the ribs, chest tightness, decreased appetite, wandering pain, intermittent pain, relief from belching, and aggravation of pain by emotional fluctuations. A stringy pulse is often seen. Differential Diagnosis 1. Liver-qi stagnation syndrome often has a history of emotional discomfort, or the condition is closely related to emotional changes; and liver fire ascending is mostly caused by qi stagnation turning into fire or internal invasion of fire evil. The latter is often a further development of the former. 2. The clinical manifestations of liver-qi stagnation syndrome are emotional discomfort, chest tightness and sighing, chest and flank or lower abdominal pain, and a stringy pulse. Women may experience breast pain, dysmenorrhea, and irregular menstruation. There may also be lesions such as plum pit qi, goiter, and abdominal mass. 3. Clinical symptoms of liver-fire ascending syndrome include dizziness, distending pain in the head, severe pain, flushed face and eyes, bitter and dry mouth, irritability, tinnitus, deafness, insomnia, or burning pain in the chest and flanks, dry stools and dark urine, vomiting blood, nosebleed, red tongue with yellow coating, and stringy and rapid pulse. Treatment principles To treat liver qi stagnation, it is necessary to soothe the liver and relieve depression, regulate qi and harmonize the stomach. If necessary, it can be supplemented with methods such as regulating qi and resolving phlegm, promoting blood circulation and softening hard masses. |
