How do varicose veins form? The reason is this

Varicose veins are the tortuosity and dilation of the veins, also known as varicose veins, and are a common disease of the venous system. Many people want to know how varicose veins are formed, which is related to many factors. It may also be caused by congenitally weak vascular walls.

1. Increased venous pressure in the lower limbs: including long-term standing or sitting, physical labor, etc. People who engage in physical labor need to engage their abdominal muscles when exerting force, which results in increased abdominal pressure. The increase in abdominal pressure will cause temporary or intermittent compression of the veins in the lower limbs, which will affect the centripetal return of the veins in the lower limbs.

2. Venous reflux disorder: Deep vein thrombosis of the lower limbs blocks the deep veins of the lower limbs, and the venous blood of the lower limbs can only flow back and forth through the superficial veins. Under normal circumstances, the superficial veins of the lower limbs only bear about 30% of the blood return. Once the deep veins are blocked, it is difficult for them to take on 100% of the task, so the superficial veins gradually expand to compensate. Long-term compensation will lead to varicose veins.

3. Venous valve insufficiency: There are three types of blood vessels in the human body: veins, arteries, and capillaries. Among them, only veins have valves. Because veins are responsible for bringing blood from various parts of the body back to the heart, there are valves in the veins to prevent blood from flowing back. The valves open when blood flows into the heart and close when blood flows away. Damage to venous valves directly leads to high venous pressure, causing varicose veins. Venous valvular insufficiency can be divided into congenital maldevelopment and acquired insufficiency. Acquired insufficiency is due to long-term impact of blood flow, which damages the closing function of the venous valves.
