What are the effects and functions of Puhuang?

What are the effects of Puhuang? Many people may not understand this, but in fact its effect on the uterus is quite obvious, because it can help women restore uterine contractions after childbirth, and it can also have a good effect on the circulatory system.

1. Effect on the uterus

The decoction, tincture and infusion of Puhuang (the variety has not been identified) show excitatory effects on both the isolated and uterus in situ. Increasing the dosage may cause spasmodic contractions. The effect on the non-pregnant uterus is more obvious than that on the pregnant one, increasing the contraction force or tension of the postpartum uterus.

2. Effects on the circulatory system

Large doses of Puhuang decoction and ethanol extract can lower the blood pressure of cats and dogs, and its antihypertensive effect can be blocked by atropine. Low concentrations of Typha lachryma-leaf alcohol extract solution can increase the contractile force of toad isolated hearts, while high concentrations can inhibit it. Large doses of Pollen Typhae extract have little effect on the dog's cardiopulmonary system, but have a slight dilating effect on the rabbit's ear blood vessels.

3. Effect on the Intestinal Tube

Puhuang extract can enhance intestinal peristalsis in isolated rabbits, but this can be blocked by atropine. The isorhamnetin contained in it has an antispasmodic effect on the isolated intestine of mice.

4. Coagulation

Oral administration of water extract or 5% ethanol extract can significantly shorten the coagulation time of rabbits; Puhuang extract can increase the number of platelets and shorten the prothrombin time of rabbits; external application of Puhuang powder has a hemostatic effect on dog arterial bleeding.

5. Anti-tuberculosis effect

High concentration (1:100) Puhuang decoction can inhibit the growth of tuberculosis bacteria in test tubes and has certain therapeutic effects on experimental tuberculosis in guinea pigs.
