What are the treatments for cough and asthma?

Many people usually encounter problems with coughing and asthma. In fact, for most people, when encountering this phenomenon, the first thing to do is to seek treatment. In the early stages, medication or nebulization can be used to relieve the symptoms. In addition, prognosis work must be done to ensure that the patient's body suffers less pain.

1. Treatment

Persistent cough is often a manifestation of early asthma and may develop into typical bronchial asthma, so it should be diagnosed and treated early. Because its essence is the same as typical asthma, it is a chronic nonspecific inflammation of the airways caused by allergens or other triggers, as well as the airway hyperresponsiveness and intractable cough formed on this basis. Therefore, the treatment principles are the same as those for typical asthma, mainly using bronchodilators, oral theophylline drugs and (or) β2 receptor stimulants.

Some anti-allergic and mast cell stabilizing drugs such as nedocromil, cromoglycate, and ketotifen can also achieve good results. If these drugs are ineffective, consider using adrenal glucocorticoids, adding beclomethasone (beclomethasone dipropionate) aerosol or oral prednisone, and try nebulized inhalation of anticholine drugs.

(II) Prognosis

The prognosis of cough asthma is that about 1/3 to 1/2 of patients with cough asthma will develop into typical bronchial asthma, and in a small number of patients, the cough will gradually improve on its own. In children, cough may be the only clinical manifestation of asthma, and without early and appropriate treatment, it often develops into a more serious asthmatic state.
