What causes blood during ovulation? The doctor tells you the answer!

As we all know, female friends will experience bleeding during menstruation. In fact, women may also bleed during ovulation. A small amount of bleeding during ovulation is normal, but if the bleeding is too much or the bleeding time is relatively long, it may be abnormal. Let's learn about the many reasons that lead to ovulation bleeding.

1. What is the reason for bloody vaginal discharge during ovulation?

There are usually two types of bloody vaginal discharge: physiological and pathological. Physiological bloody vaginal discharge refers to the bloody vaginal discharge during the ovulation period, so bloody vaginal discharge after the ovulation period is only pathological.

Experts point out that blood in the leucorrhea during ovulation is actually ovulation bleeding. It is normal for vaginal discharge to contain blood during ovulation. This is because when the follicles in a woman's body rupture and are discharged, the estrogen level will drop sharply, causing the endometrium to lose hormonal support, resulting in partial shedding of the endometrium and a small amount of vaginal bleeding. This is medically known as "ovulation bleeding" and is a normal physiological phenomenon. If bloody vaginal discharge appears in the middle of the menstrual cycle, it may be related to ovulation bleeding. If there are no discomfort symptoms, no treatment is necessary.

But in addition to this normal physiological phenomenon, it is not ruled out that the blood in the leucorrhea during ovulation is caused by genital diseases. Generally speaking, normal leucorrhea is colorless and transparent like egg white, which can moisten the vagina and excrete waste. In addition, leucorrhea is also a "health indicator" of the female body. When leucorrhea appears abnormal, it mostly indicates the arrival of gynecological diseases. The presence of blood in leucorrhea during ovulation is often a precursor to cervical diseases such as cervical cancer, cervical polyps, and cervical erosion.

If a woman has abnormal vaginal discharge, such as an unexplained increase in vaginal discharge, or changes in color, texture, or odor, she should be alert and go to a regular hospital for examination immediately.

2. Causes of bloody vaginal discharge during ovulation

The presence of blood in the leucorrhea during ovulation is a manifestation of ovulation bleeding and a precursor to reproductive organ disease. Seek medical attention in time for rapid treatment and early recovery of health. The presence of blood in the leucorrhea during ovulation also depends on the situation. If it is a small amount of bleeding, no treatment is needed. However, if the amount of bleeding is large and occurs frequently, you must seek medical treatment in time to avoid misdiagnosis and affect women's health. The following diseases are usually responsible for bloody leucorrhea during ovulation.

1. Cervicitis and cervical erosion: Many married women suffer from cervicitis, especially those with moderate or severe cervical erosion. During sexual intercourse, the glans of the man's penis rubs against the cervix, which can cause injury and bleeding, thereby causing leucorrhea bleeding.

2. Cervical polyps: If the cervix is stimulated by chronic inflammation for a long time, single or multiple pedunculated polyps will grow at the cervical opening. The polyps are fragile and tender, and will bleed when touched, which can also cause bloody leucorrhea.

3. Endometriosis: Some endometriosis grows in the cervix and appears as blue-purple nodules. The amount of bleeding is generally small and dark red in color. Abdominal pain often occurs after intercourse, usually accompanied by symptoms of leucorrhea.

4. Cervical cancer: Bleeding after sexual intercourse or bloody vaginal discharge are the earliest symptoms of cervical cancer. Because there are many small blood vessels in the cancer lesions and the tissues are relatively fragile, after sexual intercourse, the capillaries will rupture due to damage and bleed, accompanied by leucorrhea bleeding.

Pathology

After the mature follicle ruptures and ovulates, the estrogen level drops sharply and significantly, which cannot maintain the growth of the endometrium, causing local rupture and shedding of the endometrial surface, resulting in breakthrough bleeding. With the formation of the corpus luteum of the ovary, sufficient amounts of estrogen and progesterone are secreted to quickly repair the ruptured endometrial surface and stop the bleeding. Or it is possible that during ovulation, the mature follicles secrete more estrogen, causing endometrial congestion and leakage of red blood cells. It is also possible that when the egg is captured in the fallopian tube fimbria, the blood-containing follicular fluid is sent to the uterine cavity through retrograde peristalsis of the fallopian tube and then flows out of the cervix through the vagina.
