My throat is itchy and I can't help coughing. What's going on?

If you always feel itchy throat and can't help coughing, you should be alert to upper respiratory tract infection. For example, colds and bronchial infections may cause such symptoms. You must take some antibacterial and anti-inflammatory drugs in time. If the symptoms are severe and the effect is not particularly good, you can also treat it through infusion. You should improve your body's immunity and pay attention to your diet.

My throat is itchy and I can't help coughing. What's going on?

Upper respiratory tract infection is what we often call the common cold. About 70%-80% of upper respiratory tract infections are caused by viruses, including rhinovirus, coronavirus, adenovirus, influenza virus and parainfluenza virus, respiratory syncytial virus, echovirus and coxsackievirus. Viruses are the main cause of respiratory tract infections. In addition, bacteria are also an important cause of upper respiratory tract infections. The following is a detailed introduction.

Another 20%-30% are caused by bacteria, which may occur simply or after a viral infection. Oral colonization bacteria hemolytic streptococci are the most common, followed by Haemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pneumoniae and Staphylococcus aureus, and occasionally Gram-negative bacilli. However, whether we are likely to become ill after being exposed to pathogens depends on the transmission route and the susceptibility of the population. Getting caught in the rain, catching a cold, sudden climate changes, overwork, etc. can reduce the local defense function of the respiratory tract, causing existing viruses or bacteria to multiply rapidly, or direct contact with patients' sneezes, air, and contaminated hands and utensils containing pathogens can induce the disease. The elderly, the young, the weak, those with low immune function or those with chronic respiratory diseases such as sinusitis and tonsillitis are more susceptible to the disease.

Prevention methods

1. Avoid triggers such as cold, rain, and excessive fatigue; avoid contact with people with colds, and avoid touching your mouth, eyes, and nose with dirty hands. The elderly, the weak and those who are susceptible should pay more attention to protection. When upper respiratory tract infections are prevalent, they should wear masks and avoid going in crowded public places. 2. Strengthening physical fitness, insisting on moderate and regular outdoor exercise, and improving the body's immunity and cold resistance are the main methods to prevent this disease. 3. Immunomodulatory drugs and vaccines For patients with frequent and recurrent disease and elderly patients with low immunity, immune enhancers may be used as appropriate. There are currently no vaccines for viruses other than influenza.
