What should I do if I have a fever caused by tonsillitis?

When tonsils are inflamed, it is easy to cause fever, so once these symptoms appear, you must pay attention to the correct treatment. It is recommended that patients drink more water to relieve the pain in the throat, and take some antipyretic and analgesic drugs orally.

1. Pay attention to rest, drink plenty of water, eat soft food, strengthen nutrition and clear bowel movements. If the sore throat is severe or the fever is high, you can take antipyretic and analgesic drugs orally. At the same time, local treatment can also be used, such as gargling with compound boric acid solution, warm salt water, etc., or taking throat lozenges, local flushing and steam inhalation, etc.

2. Patients with recurrent tonsillitis or multiple complications of peritonsillar abscesses, as well as those with enlarged tonsils that hinder swallowing and breathing, and those who are often inflamed and spread to adjacent organs, leading to otitis media, lymphadenitis, etc., should be sent to the hospital for treatment in time.

3. Ginger has been used as both food and medicine since ancient times. The rhizome of old ginger has medicinal effects. In addition to the effects of sweating, relieving fever and keeping warm, it can also eliminate inflammation and resolve phlegm. The effect will be better if you add tangerine peel (dried orange peel) to ginger soup. Add 5 grams each of ginger and tangerine peel, a little sugar, and 400 grams of water, boil it into 1/3 of the volume, and you can drink it. Drink it while hot and then rest to double the effect.

4. Hypothermia therapy: It is also a minimally invasive surgical method for treating tonsillitis. Unlike laser and microwave treatments that use high temperatures of over 150 degrees, it uses low-temperature plasma at a lower temperature (around 40-70 degrees) to ablate the soft palate tissue and cause it to deform and scar, thereby effectively solving the problem of throat obstruction. It does not cause as much damage to tissue as laser or surgery, and generally achieves the best results after 3-6 weeks.
