What are the symptoms of gastroenteritis?

Nowadays, many people often suffer from acute gastroenteritis. After suffering from gastroenteritis, patients will not only feel pain, but may even feel abdominal pain, which makes it impossible for us to live a normal life. So when we get gastroenteritis, the first thing we should do is to actively respond and regulate our body.

Symptoms of acute gastroenteritis: Symptoms of acute gastroenteritis vary depending on the cause. Those caused by spicy food and alcoholism often have discomfort, pain, lack of appetite, nausea, vomiting, etc. in the upper abdominal area. For those caused by drugs and stress factors, there is generally no obvious discomfort before the onset, or only symptoms of indigestion, but this is often masked by the primary serious disease. The first symptoms may be sudden onset of black stools or vomiting of blood.

Cause:

(1) Chemical stimulation: Taking certain drugs orally (such as salicylates, indomethacin, ibuprofen, phenylbutazone, iodine preparations, reserpine and corticosteroids), drinking large amounts of strong alcohol, strong tea, coffee, etc., can stimulate and damage the gastric mucosa, causing congestion and edema of the gastric mucosa, and even bleeding and erosion, leading to the occurrence of acute simple gastritis.

(2) Physical factors: Eating too cold or too hot or too rough food, foreign objects and persimmon stones, gastric radiation and gastric cryotherapy can also cause gastric mucosal damage and induce inflammatory changes.

(3) Eating food contaminated by bacteria or their toxins: The most common cause of acute gastritis is unclean food. Common bacterial infections include staphylococcal exotoxin, botulinum toxin, Salmonella endotoxin and acidophilus bacteria. Helicobacter pylori can also cause acute gastritis during the acute infection period, which may turn into chronic active gastritis if not eliminated. Common viral infection factors include influenza virus, enterovirus, measles virus, Epstein-Barr virus, etc.

(4) Mechanical injury: Indwelling gastric tube, foreign bodies in the stomach, gastric persimmon stones, and hiatal hernia can mechanically damage the gastric mucosa. In addition, acute gastritis may occur after radiotherapy of abdominal tumors.

(5) Other factors: mental and neurological dysfunction, stress state, allergic reactions caused by various factors and certain systemic diseases, such as diffuse liver disease, portal hypertension, and uremia.
