Acupuncture can treat vocal cord paralysis, TCM dialectical three treatments

Currently, most people choose acupuncture to treat vocal cord paralysis. In addition to acupuncture, people can also use Chinese medicine's method of syndrome differentiation and treatment to treat it.

Acupuncture treatment for vocal cord paralysis:

(1) The main acupoints are Renying, Xietu, Tiantu, Daying, and the auxiliary acupoints are Hegu, Quchi, Taixi, Houxi, Zhaohai, etc. Take two main acupoints and two auxiliary acupoints each time, once a day.

(2) Acupoint injection: Select the above-mentioned main acupuncture points or Ashi points, and choose the injection drugs: Compound Danshen Injection, Angelica Injection, Chuanxiong Injection, etc. Select 1 to 2 points each time, and inject 1 ml of the drug solution into each point once a day or every other day. Continuous treatment for 7 to 10 times is a course of treatment. Rest for 3 to 5 days before the second course of treatment.

TCM dialectical treatment method:

1. Metal trauma, qi stagnation and blood stasis

Treatment method: Promote blood circulation, remove blood stasis, dredge meridians and stimulate voice.

Prescription: Buyang Huanwu Decoction (from "Yi Lin Gaicuo") with modifications. 15g of Astragalus, 10g of Angelica Root, 15g of Red Peony Root, 15g of Pheretima, 10g of Chuanxiong, 10g of Peach Kernel, and 10g of Safflower. For those with red and swollen vocal cords, add layer paper and cicada shells; for those with excessive phlegm and chest tightness, add fennel and mulberry bark.

2. Wind evil enters the meridians, causing obstruction of the vocal cords

Treatment method: Soothe wind and clear the lungs, benefit the throat and open the voice.

Prescription: Liuwei Decoction (from "Housikezhizhang") with modifications. Platycodon 12g, raw licorice 10g, Schizonepeta 10g, Saposhnikovia 10g, mint 6g, and Bombyx batryticatus 10g. You can add white aconite root, cicada shell, dried earthworm, etc. to enhance the effect of the prescription in relieving spasms, unblocking meridians and promoting voice. For those with severe aversion to cold, headache and nasal congestion, you can add cinnamon twig, white peony root, and calamus.

3. Insufficient liver blood, lack of nourishment to the voice box

Treatment method: Nourish blood, nourish tendons, activate collaterals and open up voice.

Prescription: Siwu Decoction (Taiping Huimin Hejijufang) with modifications. 15g of Rehmannia root, 15g of Paeonia lactiflora, 10g of Angelica sinensis, and 10g of Ligusticum chuanxiong. You can add Polygonum multiflorum, Lycium barbarum, Morus alba, Ligustrum lucidum, etc. to enhance the liver and blood nourishing effect of this prescription; add scorpion, Bombyx batryticatus, centipede, cicada shell, etc. to relieve spasms and promote voice.
