Which Chinese medicines are effective in treating chloasma?

Chloasma is a skin disease that bothers many beauty-loving female friends. Faced with those spots on the face that are different from their own skin color, how to eliminate them becomes the biggest problem. So, is there any way to cure chloasma? Fortunately, many friends inadvertently found that the spots have improved when taking Chinese medicine to regulate their bodies. It seems that Chinese medicine is effective in treating chloasma. Let’s talk about the method of treating chloasma with Chinese medicine.

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that if the liver fails to function properly, Qi will stagnate, which will turn into fire over time, burning the Yin blood and causing poor blood circulation, which can lead to disharmony of Qi and blood on the face. If the spleen is weak and its transportation and transformation are not healthy, it cannot produce essence, and then Qi and blood cannot nourish the face. Pathological changes such as insufficient kidney Yang and deficiency of kidney essence can all lead to chloasma on the face. The use of internal decoctions to treat chloasma requires syndrome differentiation and treatment, but no matter what type it is, it is always inseparable from the treatment principle of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis. The following basic formulas can be used with added flavors:

Basic formula: 10 grams of Radix Angelicae Pubescentis, 10 grams of Rhizoma Chuanxiong, 10 grams of Rhizoma Chishao, 15 grams of Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae, 6 grams of Rhizoma Pruni, 6 grams of Safflower, and 5 grams of Angelicae Dahuricae.

1. Liver depression and blood stasis syndrome may cause irritability, chest and flank pain, dysmenorrhea or delayed menstruation, dark purple menstrual blood with clots, purple spots on the tongue, and a wiry and hesitant pulse. For this condition, the basic formula can be used with the addition of 6 grams of bupleurum, 6 grams of fructus aurantii, 6 grams of processed cyperus rotundus, and 6 grams each of green tangerine peel.

2. Spleen deficiency and blood stasis syndrome may be manifested by pale or sallow complexion, fatigue, shortness of breath and palpitations, decreased appetite, abdominal distension, delayed menstruation, thin menstrual blood, pale tongue, and thin pulse. You can use the basic formula and add 6 grams of roasted Astragalus, 10 grams of Codonopsis pilosula, 10 grams of stir-fried Atractylodes macrocephala, 10 grams of Poria cocos, and 3 grams of roasted Licorice root.

3. Kidney Yang deficiency and cold syndrome can be seen in pale complexion, cold body and limbs, soreness and weakness in waist and knees, frequent urination, pale tongue with white coating, deep and thin pulse, and dark brown spots, which are difficult to treat. Add 6 grams of cooked aconite root, 6 grams of roasted cinnamon twig, 12 grams of cooked rehmannia root, 10 grams of epimedium, and 15 grams of dodder seed to the basic formula.

The above prescriptions need to be taken for two months, one dose per day. If it works, you can continue taking it for a period of time. Use the appropriate medicine according to the corresponding syndrome.
