What should I do if my child develops large flat pimples?

Babies have relatively low resistance, so they can easily be infected with viruses and become sick if they are not careful. For example, many babies have inexplicable skin itching, and then within a few minutes, large red flat bumps of varying sizes appear on the baby's body. The bumps may feel hard when touched. The baby may have urticaria. When this happens, the baby will usually scratch the skin due to the itching, which is very annoying. So what should you do if your baby has large flat bumps?

1. How to determine whether the red bumps on children are urticaria?

When urticaria occurs, there will be wheals (groups) of varying sizes on the skin. When you touch them, you will find that they feel hard and itchy.

The wheals of the affected child appear and disappear quickly, and leave no traces in childhood, but they are prone to recurrence, possibly several times a day. Urticaria in children can occur in any part of the body. When it involves the digestive tract, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea may occur. It can also cause symptoms such as edema, chest tightness, breathlessness, suffocation, and bronchial asthma. Parents should take their children to the hospital for treatment in time.

2. Urticaria is different from rubella and measles is not contagious

Urticaria in children, commonly known as wheals, is a common allergic skin disease, mostly caused by allergies, so urticaria is not contagious. It is different from measles and rubella. Measles is caused by the measles virus and rubella is caused by the rubella virus, both of which are contagious.

3. Is there any specific medicine to treat urticaria?

Urticaria is actually a manifestation caused by allergies, so after urticaria appears, we can take antihistamines for treatment, which is what we usually call anti-allergic drugs.

I would like to remind everyone that you must take anti-allergic drugs consistently during treatment. You can continue taking them for two or three days after there are no more skin symptoms to consolidate the effect. Do not stop taking the drugs on your own before the rash has subsided.

4. The fundamental way to prevent urticaria from recurring is to stay away from allergens

If you don’t know what foods your baby is allergic to, it is recommended that you go to the hospital for an allergy screening.
