Greasy hair and severe hair loss? It may be seborrheic alopecia

Greasy hair and severe hair loss are symptoms of seborrheic alopecia. Seborrheic alopecia, also known as columnar tinea, can also be called moth-eaten alopecia, which not only causes the patient's hair to fall out, but also makes the patient's scalp itchy and hair wet, which has a great impact on the patient's image. The symptoms of seborrheic alopecia are different at different stages. Here we will introduce the causes and symptoms of seborrheic alopecia.

Basic Introduction

Seborrheic alopecia is called "pillar tinea" or "worm-eaten alopecia" in traditional Chinese medicine. It is due to damp heat invading the skin, causing nutritional imbalance, loose pores, blocked blood vessels, and unfavorable production of essence and blood, which leads to loose hair roots and cause hair loss. The syndrome differentiation is: damp heat in the spleen and stomach (usually fond of eating sweet and fatty food, oily hair, greasy scales, itchy hair, and hair loss); blood deficiency and wind dryness (dry hair, sparse and falling hair, overlapping scales, and itchy scalp).

The average normal person loses about 50 hairs a day. This is part of normal metabolism, and the number of hairs lost each day is roughly the same as the number of new hairs, so the hair does not become thinner. If the amount of hair loss exceeds this number and the hair is more obvious than before

Thinning is pathological hair loss. If you don’t lose much hair normally, but your hair grows very slowly and becomes thinner, this is also pathological hair loss.

reason

Seborrheic alopecia is a type of hair loss that occurs on the basis of excessive sebum secretion, often accompanied by increased dandruff, an oily scalp, and obvious pain and itching.

The main cause of seborrheic alopecia is excessive sebum secretions that accumulate around the hair follicles, and even compress or clog the follicle pores, creating obstacles to the normal growth of hair. In addition, excessive amounts of oleic acid, linoleic acid, etc. in sebum secretions are toxic to hair follicles, causing hair poisoning, withering, and falling off. Seborrheic alopecia mostly occurs in young and middle-aged people with active sebaceous gland secretion. Hair loss gradually begins on the top of the head and spreads to the forehead. The scalp is greasy and bright red, with yellow oily crusts.

symptom

Early days

: The hair is oily and looks greasy if not washed for a day. The symptoms of hair loss are not obvious at this time. The hair gradually changes from coarse to soft.

Middle stage: The hair is oily and will appear more greasy if not washed for a day. At this time, the symptoms of hair loss are obvious. The hair starts to become noticeably thinner and softer.

Late stage: The scalp's oil production increases exponentially, the scalp becomes greasy and shiny, and obvious areas of hair loss have appeared, such as the top of the head or forehead. The hair is thin and not long, and the ends are obviously pointed. The hair is just like a tuft of hair.

This stage is the last chance for treatment.

Late stage: The top of the head is already oily and hairless, the subcutaneous muscle layer has disappeared or been replaced by a fat layer, and the scalp tissue has been transformed into a porous skin area.

It turned into pores. Therefore, we can only say that not a single hair grows but we cannot say that not a single blade of grass grows. Because most people can find very fine hairs using a magnifying glass. At this time it can be called "permanent hair loss". The scalp tissue on which it depends for survival has changed completely and cannot be reversed.
