Can lack of sperm be cured?

Low sperm count, weak sperm count and azoospermia are relatively common male diseases, especially for men who want to have children, which often leads to infertility problems. When symptoms of oligospermia, asthenospermia and azoospermia appear, we must first find out the cause. If it is caused by congenital reasons, it is generally difficult to treat. If it is caused by infection or other reasons, anti-inflammatory treatment is needed in time to restore the quality and quantity of sperm.

Can lack of sperm be cured?

Although the lack of sperm is difficult to treat, it is not an incurable disease. With the continuous development and progress of medical technology, patients must have confidence in the treatment and believe that the disease can be cured. Currently, there are two treatment methods available clinically: one is in vitro fertilization, and the other is microscopic sperm reconstruction surgery:

1. Test-tube baby:

It is a method of taking out a small amount of sperm from the male through puncturing the testicle or epididymis, and at the same time taking out the spouse's egg, injecting the sperm into the egg in vitro, cultivating it into a fertilized egg, and then implanting it into the female's uterine cavity. This method is most suitable for women who also suffer from diseases such as fallopian tube obstruction. The disadvantages are: the cost is relatively high, each cycle costs about tens of thousands of yuan, and the success rate is about 30~40%. Women need surgery to retrieve their eggs, which is painful, and if they want to have another child, they can only start over.

(II) Microsurgical reconstruction of the seminal tract:

This is a new technology that has been developed both internationally and domestically in recent years, and it is good news for patients with obstructive azoospermia. It is mainly aimed at patients with the most common epididymal vas deferens obstruction in my country. It mainly includes two types of operations: microsurgical vasotesticular anastomosis and microsurgical vaso-vasectomy.

It is mainly used for patients with obstruction of the epididymis or vas deferens. The method is to find the site of the obstruction of the epididymis duct during surgery and reconnect the unobstructed vas deferens with the epididymis duct above the obstruction. That is to say, the part of the pipe that is blocked is left vacant and a new unobstructed pipe is built, so as to achieve the purpose of smooth passage of sperm.

Advantages of this method:

The operation involves minimal trauma, with only a 3cm incision on the scrotum; recovery is quick, with hospitalization generally requiring only 5 to 7 days, and the cost is low, with all costs around 10,000 yuan. The efficacy is proven and the recanalization rate can reach 70~95%. Permanent cure can be achieved, and the freedom of childbearing can be achieved without the spouse having to bear any pain or risk.

Among infertile patients, the frequency of azoospermia is 5 to 20 percent. Azoospermia can lead to male infertility and seriously endanger male health. Experts point out that immediately discarding cigarettes, taking medicines carefully, avoiding intense running, not resting for too long, not abstaining from sex for a long time, and getting up at night to urinate can all prevent the occurrence of azoospermia.
