Dry saliva secretion is an important cause of bad breath

There are many causes of bad breath, such as poor oral hygiene, gingivitis, periodontitis, and excessive stomach fire, all of which may lead to symptoms of bad breath. One of the important causes of bad breath is not particularly understood by many people, that is, less saliva secretion. We know that saliva contains certain bactericidal ingredients that can kill bacteria. Once the saliva secretion is less, bacteria will easily breed, thereby inducing bad breath.

Almost everyone has had this experience: after getting up in the morning, the breath is generally not very fresh. This is because the saliva secretion in the mouth decreases after sleeping at night. The same principle applies to some people who suffer from dry mouth syndrome. Because saliva secretion is much less than normal, bad breath is inevitable.

The possible causes of insufficient saliva secretion are as follows:

One is the periodic changes in the body's physiological state, such as staying up late and lack of sleep, talking too much every day, or getting inflamed, etc. People with this kind of bad breath have a common symptom: dry mouth and long-term lack of water intake. The second cause is senile physiological degeneration, which leads to a decrease in saliva secretion; the third cause is salivary gland disease.

People with reduced saliva secretion are divided into five categories:

1. People with hyperdigestive function who can eat a lot but often suffer from constipation. 2. People who stay up late for a long time. 3. People who drink little water for a long time. 4. People with salivary gland diseases. 5. The elderly population.

In addition to oral diseases that cause bad breath, nasopharyngeal suppurative diseases, digestive tract diseases, respiratory tract diseases, diabetes, uremia, renal failure, blood diseases, smoke stains formed by smoking, and some gases produced after tobacco burning enter the body and then exhale through the respiratory tract, as well as mercury poisoning, lead poisoning and other diseases can also cause bad breath.

The expert group hereby reminds people:

Saliva is the best substance for maintaining a hygienic oral environment. Do not use bactericidal and disinfectant drugs in your mouth casually, and do not use chemical substances to balance the acidity and alkalinity of your mouth. Such views and practices are ridiculous because the mouth itself is a world of bacteria, many of which are beneficial bacteria.

Through the above article, I believe everyone has some understanding of the causes of bad breath. In short, what is the real cause of bad breath? To put it simply, it can be summed up in two words: saliva!
