What topical medication is used to treat bedsores?

Many patients who are bedridden for a long time suffer from long-term compression of the skin and poor blood circulation in the compressed area, which will cause skin ulcers and erosions in the long run. This disease is bedsores. Bedsores can be treated mainly by prevention. Turn the body over more often to prevent the local skin from being in the same posture and under pressure for a long time. Once bedsores are formed, local anti-inflammatory treatment must be performed in time to avoid causing greater infection. Clean the ulcerated skin with hydrogen peroxide and apply topical ointment. So, what topical medication is good for the treatment of bedsores?

Bedsores are probably very common in clinical practice. Most of them occur in elderly patients who are bedridden for a long time. Not only do they suffer from the original disease, but bedsores make them even more painful, which increases the difficulty and workload of nursing staff. If handled properly, not only will the patients suffer less, but the original disease can also be cured sooner. Enhance patients' confidence in overcoming the disease.

Here I would like to share some of my experiences in treating bedsores. Bedsores are mostly a kind of compressive inflammation caused by long-term pressure on a local area, which hinders the local blood circulation. Another reason is that the patient himself is malnourished due to long-term illness, his muscles are loose, and the external protective skin is slightly damaged, which allows bacteria to take advantage of the opportunity to enter, causing an infection that is very difficult to treat. Therefore, when caring for such patients, we must frequently turn them over, clean their urine and feces, and keep their bedding clean and breathable. There is no specific medicine for the treatment of bedsores now. I have used Chinese medicine and some external medicines and I think they are effective. I would like to invite my colleagues to learn from and correct me. The intention is to stimulate discussion.

1: 5 fen of Pueraria root and 1 fen of Scutellaria baicalensis. Wash, dry and grind into powder. Pass through a 120-mesh sieve and sterilize under high pressure. Use powder in the ulceration stage; use paste in the granulation growth stage, that is, mix the powder with egg white and mix well. Generally, 1 50-gram egg white is added to 12 grams of powder, and it is ready for use; use oil in the healing stage, that is, 100 grams of powder is added with 100 ml of sesame oil. When using, disinfect the wound surface routinely (normally, hydrogen peroxide is not used. If it is used, it must be rinsed with saline). When there is a lot of necrotic tissue, debridement is required. The amount used should be enough to cover the wound surface, with a thickness of about 3 mm. Then fix it with a sterile dressing bag and change the dressing once a day. In the healing stage, the dressing can be changed every other day. This recipe can clear away heat and toxic substances, remove necrosis and promote tissue regeneration.

2: Grind 30g of Shengdan, 30g of raw gypsum and 3g of indigo into fine powder and sprinkle it on the ulcer surface. Wait until the slough is gone and then use prescription 1. This prescription can remove toxins and slough. It is used for bedsores in the early stage when the slough has not been completely eliminated and is adhered to the surrounding skin and flesh. When taking medicine, eat more nutritious foods to enhance the body's resistance to disease. You might as well give it a try if you encounter such a patient.
