What causes ribitis?

Costitis is a relatively common inflammatory disease. There are generally two causes of costitis: one is slight displacement of the thoracic vertebrae, and the other is muscle injury. For patients, the most obvious symptom of costitis is stabbing pain in the chest, and the onset and duration of the pain are irregular, so if you feel chest discomfort, you should get relevant examinations done.

Costitis refers to a chronic nonspecific inflammation occurring in the costal cartilage area, also known as non-suppurative costochondritis and costochondral hyperplasia. The cause of the disease is unknown, but it is generally believed to be related to strain or trauma. It occurs when people carry heavy objects, twist sharply, or squeeze the chest, causing acute damage to the costochondrial joint cartilage, or due to chronic strain or viral infection caused by colds, which leads to edema and thickening of the costochondrial joint surface cartilage due to a sterile inflammatory reaction.

Costitis is caused by cold or respiratory infection. You can often use a hot water bottle to apply to the painful area. If possible, go for electrotherapy! Keep warm! It is best to confirm that it is costitis!

There are two causes of costitis.

First, the thoracic vertebrae on the back corresponding to the rib pain are slightly displaced, causing the costal nerves to be stuck or adhered, which will cause pain.

Second, there is muscle damage at the painful point, causing aseptic inflammation and stimulating the costal nerves to cause pain.

For treatment, you can go to the physical therapy department, acupuncture department, or pain department to see a doctor. Generally, with proper treatment, the condition will be basically healed in a week.

symptom

Sometimes the pain will occur after fatigue. The onset may be acute or slow. The acute one may occur suddenly, with a feeling of stabbing pain, throbbing pain or soreness in the chest; the insidious one develops slowly, making the junction of the ribs and costal cartilage bow-shaped, swollen and dull pain without being noticed, sometimes radiating to the shoulders, back, armpits, neck and chest, sometimes with chest tightness and shortness of breath. The pain is relieved by resting or lying on the side, and worsened by deep breathing, coughing, lying flat, holding the chest up and after fatigue.
