Why does a crab pinch your hand and cause bleeding?

In life, many people particularly like to eat crabs. When crabs are on the market in large quantities, they will buy some to eat. Generally, they process crabs at home, so when cleaning crabs, you must be careful not to be pinched or stabbed by the crabs. Many people say that being pinched by a crab and bleeding will cause poisoning. In fact, it is the flesh-eating bacteria that the crab carries. After being infected with the flesh-eating bacteria, serious situations can lead to life-threatening conditions.

Why does a crab pinch your hand and cause bleeding?

1. Flesh-eating bacteria, also known as flesh-eating bacteria, is not a single bacterium, but refers to a mixture of pathogens that can cause "necrotizing fasciitis". The most common pathogens are Streptococcus pyogenes and Vibrio vulnificus. Other pathogens include Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, etc. Because these bacteria infect the fascia under the skin and cause inflammation, the clinical course is rapid and severe, and the mortality rate is high, so they are named "flesh-eating bacteria".

2. Flesh-eating bacteria can infect any part of the fascia. Patients must be admitted to the hospital as soon as possible to remove necrotic tissue and use antibiotics, otherwise it may cause sepsis and multiple organ failure, which can be fatal within 24 hours. If you get prompt medical treatment, antibiotics can kill the flesh-eating bacteria, but any delay can make the condition worse, and even if you survive, you may need limb amputation.

What to do if you are caught by a crab

1. When you are caught by a crab, remember not to pull it hard. Instead, gently put the crab and your hand into the water. The crab will then release its claws.

2. When the crab releases its claws, if your claws are pinched and bleed, don't panic. First, we should wash it with warm water; then, disinfect it after cleaning; finally, just cover it with a Band-Aid.

3. What should I do if a child is pinched by a crab and bleeds? In fact, it is the same, but you need to seek medical attention and get a diagnosis based on how serious the condition is.

4. If after your hand has healed, small red spots appear where it was pinched, don't panic. They are bruises left over from the healing of the wound and will disappear in about three days.
