What to do if the toenail is separated from the flesh

If the toenail is separated from the flesh, we need to see how serious the situation is. If it is caused by infection, separation or symptoms occur, then we should pay attention to local bandaging and medication to prevent the infection from spreading further. In addition, many times, nail infection is caused by some fungal problems, so we should also pay attention to the cleanliness of our feet in daily life.

1. The damaged area starts from the front and side edges of the nail. The deformed nails other than the fox shape lose their luster and become gray-brown or dirty, and become rough and uneven, and the nail plate becomes thickened.

2. The subungual keratin hyperplasia causes the nail plate to curl up, the nail plate is separated from the nail bed, and the front half is hollow as if it were eaten by insects. The nail plate will shrink and become thinner, which may lead to paronychia over time. Complications of paronychia may cause pain. Light white and turbid, with slight deformation and unevenness on the surface.

3. There is also a type of nail dystrophy fungal disease in which the entire nail plate is destroyed, the nail plate falls off, and the nail bed thickens, which is the residual keratinized material. This disease also has no subjective symptoms, and only manifests itself as a chronic course. Without treatment, it may not be cured for a year. Check yourself according to the above symptoms. The disease is caused by dermatophytes and non-dermatophytes such as yeast infections of the nails. If not treated, healthy nails will not grow naturally after the diseased nails are removed. The nail bed is not protected by the nail plate, which causes pain and affects normal life.

4. It should be cut off, because after trauma, there is a lot of exudation, which can easily cause infection under the nail. After cutting it off, local disinfection is required. Diluted iodine tincture or syngil is usually used. It is best to use sterile dressings for 7-10 days. If the nail bed is dry, there is no need to use a disinfection box to bandage it. If the nail bed is intact (subungual flesh), a new nail can usually grow in March.
