Can transient ischemic attack be cured?

Can transient ischemic attack be cured?

There are many causes of transient cerebral ischemia, such as cervical spondylosis, which leads to insufficient blood supply to the brain. Transient cerebral ischemia should be treated in time. There are many treatment methods, mainly targeting the cause. Cerebral ischemia caused by high blood pressure or heart disease, or due to drugs, etc. Only by understanding the specific symptoms can effective treatment be carried out.

treat

Different treatment methods are adopted according to the form and cause of TIA. If the disease only occurs once or occasionally and the blood pressure is not too high, you can take low-dose enteric-coated aspirin or clopidogrel for a long time. The duration of aspirin use depends on the patient's specific situation. In most cases, it needs to be used for 2 to 5 years. If no obvious side effects occur, the use time can be extended. If there are risk factors for TIA, the aspirin should be taken for a longer time. At the same time, drugs to prevent vasospasm, such as nimodipine, should be taken, and inositol nicotinate can also be taken.

Frequent seizures, that is, repeated seizures within a short period of time, should be treated as a neurological emergency. If patients with frequent TIA attacks cannot be effectively controlled, there is a high possibility of cerebral infarction in the near future. Active treatment should be given. The treatment principles are comprehensive treatment and individualized treatment:

1. Actively treat risk factors

Such as high blood pressure, high blood lipids, heart disease, diabetes, cerebral arteriosclerosis, etc.

2. Antiplatelet aggregation

Enteric-coated aspirin or clopidogrel can be used as an option.

3. Improve brain microcirculation

Such as nimodipine, cinnarizine (cerebrospinal fluid sedation), etc.

4. Vasodilator drugs

For example, troxerutin (Vinaolutong) can be used.

Prognosis

TIA is a chronic, recurrent clinical syndrome, during which obvious localized brain dysfunction may occur. This will affect the patient's quality of life and work ability, and weaken the patient's social adaptability to varying degrees.

It is generally believed that the incidence of cerebral infarction after TIA is 4% to 8% in the first month, 12% to 13% in the first year, and reaches 24.29% after 5 years. The annual incidence of cerebrovascular disease in the first 5 years is 5.9%. After suffering from TIA, patients are extremely worried about the prognosis of the disease, which leads to emotional disorders such as anxiety, suspicion, and depression. Negative emotions can affect the neuroendocrine system and aggravate changes in psychological state.

In addition, the prognosis of TIA is related to advanced age, physical weakness, hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, etc. If the TIA attack cannot be controlled in time, it may eventually lead to cerebrovascular disease. If the TIA attack is treated in time, the prognosis is good.
