What should I do if my legs become swollen after sitting for a long time at work?

In modern society, many people’s work is no longer physical labor, but mental labor. Every day at work I sit in front of the computer all day long. When it’s busy, I may not even have time to get up and go to the bathroom. If this continues for a long time, not only will the lumbar spine be prone to problems, but the cervical spine will also be affected and suffer from cervical spondylosis, which is really uncomfortable. So, what should I do if my legs swell after sitting for a long time at work?

Wiggle your toes

Sit upright on a chair, press your knees with your hands, keep your feet together, and your heels on the ground; move your toes up and down; then stand up from the chair and stand straight, raising your legs high and stepping on the spot. This can exercise the calf muscles. The calf is one of the important channels of the lymphatic vessels. Exercising this area can help prevent and improve leg edema.

Do deep abdominal breathing

Sit upright on a chair, clench your fists and place them on your thighs, and slowly take deep abdominal breaths. When you inhale, push your abdomen out, and when you exhale, pull your abdomen in. This will exercise your abdominal muscles and stimulate the abdominal lymphatic vessels, promote the flow of abdominal lymph fluid, and help prevent abdominal edema.

Kick at will

Stand at attention, back straight, hands on hips. Use the strength of your legs to kick your left leg forward. When you reach your limit, hold the position for a moment, then slowly return to the original position. Then switch to your right leg and practice the above exercise. Alternate between your legs until you feel soreness in your thighs. This exercise can make your legs slimmer and longer.

Calf rubbing with heels

Sit on the bed, lift your feet, and use your heels to rub your calves from bottom to top. When your calves turn slightly red and hot, switch to the other leg and practice. Alternate between the two legs until you feel sore and tired. This simple movement can improve blood circulation in the legs.

Lie flat with your legs open

When lying flat on the bed, you can try to open your legs to both sides. When you reach the limit, hold the position for a moment, then slowly return to the original position. Repeat the above exercises until you feel soreness in the base of your thighs. This exercise can firm your leg muscles, keep them away from edema, and easily give you slender and beautiful legs.
