Turtle shell refers to the tortoise shell in Chinese herbal medicine, which is cold in nature and sweet in taste. It enters the spleen meridian, liver meridian and heart meridian. It has the effects of nourishing yin and suppressing yang, benefiting the kidneys and strengthening bones, replenishing qi, nourishing blood and nourishing the heart. It can treat yin deficiency and yang hyperactivity, yin deficiency and excessive fire, and internal movement of virtual wind. It can treat kidney deficiency, improve sexual ability, bone atrophy, fontanelle closure, yin and blood deficiency, palpitations, insomnia, memory loss, etc. In addition, it can treat problems such as menorrhagia and menorrhagia.

(1) Nourishing Yin and suppressing Yang: It is used to treat dizziness, hot flashes, night sweats caused by Yin deficiency and hyperactivity of Yang, as well as dry throat and dry mouth caused by lack of body fluid after fever. Combined with Rehmannia glutinosa, Anemarrhena asphodeloides and Phellodendron chinense, it is used to treat hot flashes and night sweats.

(2) Nourishes the kidneys and strengthens the bones: It is used to treat weakness in the waist and knees due to insufficient kidney yin and the inability of the fontanelle to close in children.

Production instructions vaccine: The small turtle is stronger in replenishing yin than the soft-shelled turtle, but it is not as fresh and fragrant as turtle meat. Generally, the effect of braising it with a small amount of salt is very good.

To treat dizziness, tinnitus, headache, hot face, etc. caused by Yin deficiency and Yang hyperactivity, it is often used in combination with raw rehmannia, red peony root, oyster, semen cassiae, and bupleurum. For the treatment of weakness of bones and tendons, sore legs, hunchback and chicken breast, and delayed growth in children caused by kidney deficiency, it can be used together with Achyranthes bidentata, Chinese yam, Cornus officinalis, Psoralea corylifolia, Eucommia ulmoides, and Dipsacus asper. The glue made from tortoise shell is called "tortoise shell glue". It has similar effects to tortoise shell, but its effects in nourishing yin, blood, qi and activating blood circulation are stronger. Turtle shell and glue are cold in nature, and are not suitable for people with weak spleen and stomach, and poor appetite.
