Is it normal to have blood in urine?

Stones are a common disease in the human body. There are many causes for them. It may be caused by problems with the kidneys or excessive smoking and drinking. Stones can bring many adverse effects to the human body, such as lower abdominal pain, frequent urination, urgency, incomplete urination, etc. Some stone patients may also have blood in their urine. So is it normal to have blood in your urine due to stones?

Urinary system stone disease, clinically called urolithiasis, is a relatively common disease in urology. Urolithiasis is divided into kidney stones, ureteral stones, bladder stones and urethral stones according to the different sites of onset. Common clinical manifestations include frequent urination, urgency, pain during urination, gross hematuria, and flank and abdominal cramps. The diagnosis can be confirmed through urine analysis, urinary system color ultrasound, urinary system CT or CTU and other related examinations. The main treatment methods are: extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, percutaneous nephrolithotomy, ureteroscopic lithotripsy, cystoscopic lithotripsy, etc. The phenomenon of visible hematuria is normal. It is mainly caused by stones scratching the mucosa of the urinary system. The hematuria will disappear on its own after the stones are removed.

Gross hematuria is often one of the common clinical symptoms of urinary stones. The reasons include: 1. The stone itself is hard in texture and often irregular in shape. The surface of the stone is usually rough. It can easily cause damage to the urinary tract mucosa by rubbing against the wall of the urinary tract lumen, thereby causing mucosal bleeding and macroscopic hematuria. 2. When patients suffer from urinary stones, they are often accompanied by local infection and inflammatory hyperplasia of the mucosa, which will cause local swelling of the mucosa in the urinary tract lumen and obvious hyperplasia of polyps, which will more easily cause damage to the mucosa and bleeding. These two aspects are the main reasons why urinary stones lead to hematuria.

treat

For most people with kidney stones, doctors recommend self-treatment at home. Pain medication may be needed, and you may also need to drink plenty of water and fluids to ensure you don't become dehydrated. Your doctor may also prescribe medications to help with the passage of the stones. If the stone is too large to pass on its own or if it becomes lodged in the urethra, further treatment may be required.

The most common treatment is extracorporeal ultrasonic lithotripsy, which uses vibration waves to break kidney stones into smaller pieces that can be excreted in urine. Sometimes doctors need to do a minimally invasive surgery to remove the stone or insert a small flexible tube (called a stent) into the ureter to hold it open and help the stone pass.
