After suffering from ADHD, timely treatment is required. ADHD is mostly a disease in young children, and some behavioral disorders appear in preschool. At this time, some good methods can be used to treat children. For example, biofeedback treatment for ADHD is relatively advantageous. After a period of treatment, children can get good self-regulation, thereby attracting their attention, improving and regulating brain state, etc. Biofeedback treatment for ADHD Children with ADHD have defects in cognitive and executive functions. Although treatment with central nervous system stimulants can effectively improve behavioral symptoms and some cognitive defects, some parents have concerns about medication due to its side effects and potential cognitive toxicity. EEG biofeedback therapy applies the principle of operant conditioning. Using EEG biofeedback therapy as a means, the desired goal is achieved through training to selectively strengthen brain waves in the β band (i.e. fast band). EEG studies have found that brain waves of 16-120 Hz can inhibit motor activity, while theta waves of 4-8 Hz are related to daydreaming and sleepiness; children with ADHD often have an increase in theta waves and a decrease in 16-20 Hz fast waves. Advantages of Biofeedback for ADHD Treatment During the training process, the trainee's current state of consciousness is judged based on the changes in his/her EEG signals, and the judgment results are fed back to the trainee. The trainee is informed of his/her own EEG changes and training status through changes in sound and picture. After a period of self-regulation, the EEG waveform is changed, thereby attracting the child's attention, improving his/her concentration and regulating the brain state. As brain function improves, attention, hyperactivity and impulsivity also improve. Compared with drug treatment, it has the advantages of being non-invasive and without toxic side effects. Studies have shown that the efficacy of using EEG biofeedback to treat ADHD 20-40 times is equivalent to that of taking oral methylphenidate hydrochloride sustained-release tablets. |
