Hemorrhoids are divided into internal hemorrhoids, external hemorrhoids and mixed hemorrhoids. Different types of hemorrhoids represent different symptoms. So what are the precursors and symptoms of these three types of hemorrhoids? Internal hemorrhoids: The main symptoms are blood in the stool and large internal hemorrhoids with prolapse. Due to the different durations of the disease, it can be divided into the following stages. Early stage: Hemorrhoids are small, soft, and bright red. They often bleed due to abrasions with stool. The blood may be a line like an arrow or a few drops. There is no pain or bleeding. The bleeding is the characteristic of stool. Middle stage: Hemorrhoids are larger and soft, with bright red or purple surface. Hemorrhoids protrude from the anus during defecation and retract automatically after defecation. Bleeding may be more or less after defecation. Late stage: Hemorrhoids are larger, harder, and slightly grayish white (fibrous internal hemorrhoids). Hemorrhoids protrude from the anus during bowel movements, or even when walking, coughing, sneezing, or standing. They cannot be retracted by themselves and must be pushed back by hand, or by lying flat or applying hot compresses. There is little or no bleeding in the stool. Complications: In the middle and late stages, patients may experience anal swelling and itching. If hemorrhoids are acutely thrombosed, they may cause swelling, pain, erosion, necrosis, and even suppuration, and secondary anal fistula. Long-term blood in the stool may cause anemia. external hemorrhoids: Occurs below the dentate line of the anal canal and is caused by the enlargement and varicose veins or repeated inflammation of the external hemorrhoidal venous plexus. Its surface is covered by the skin, is not easy to bleed, and has irregular shapes and sizes. The main symptoms of external hemorrhoids are swelling, pain, and foreign body sensation. According to their development process, they can be divided into skin hemorrhoids, venous hemorrhoids, and thrombosed hemorrhoids. Skin hemorrhoids: Skin flaps grow at the edge of the anus, gradually increase in size, and are soft in texture. Generally, there is no pain or bleeding. The only sensation is that there is a foreign body in the anus. Occasionally, when it is infected with a virus and swollen and congested, pain is felt. After the swelling disappears, the skin flap still exists. Venous hemorrhoids: They are mostly caused by repeated prolapse of internal hemorrhoids in the middle and late stages, or by increased abdominal pressure during pregnancy, which results in obstruction of superficial veins and subcutaneous lymphatic reflux, causing the expansion and varicose veins of the external hemorrhoidal plexus below the dentate line of the anal canal. Its clinical manifestations: There are oval or long swellings locally, which are soft to the touch and not obvious at ordinary times. When defecation or squatting increase abdominal pressure, the swelling increases in size and becomes dark purple, and is harder to press. After defecation or massage, the swelling can shrink and soften. Generally, there is only a feeling of heaviness and no pain. If the swelling does not shrink after defecation, it will cause pain when it causes edema of surrounding tissues. Patients with venous external hemorrhoids are often accompanied by internal hemorrhoids. Thrombotic external hemorrhoids: due to constipation, excessive force during defecation, or after strenuous exercise, the external hemorrhoidal veins rupture, blood quickly coagulates and forms thrombi. Its clinical manifestations: sudden severe pain in the anus and the appearance of a swelling. This swelling is very sensitive and causes pain when touched. Therefore, the pain can be aggravated by defecation, sitting, walking, and even coughing. Mixed hemorrhoids: Mixed hemorrhoids are caused by the varicose veins of the internal and external hemorrhoids, which communicate and anastomose with each other, and the disappearance of the intersphincteric groove, so that the internal and external hemorrhoids form a whole. They have the common characteristics of internal and external hemorrhoids. |
