What is knee periostitis

Knee periostitis, also known as knee synovitis, is a very harmful joint disease. Many patients with this disease have lost their basic ability to work due to the disease, and severe cases cannot even walk normally. Because the knee joint is one of the most weighted areas in the human body, if the knee joint is injured, it directly affects a person's walking ability. If you don’t know much about this disease, let’s take a look at the introduction below.

The most susceptible group to knee periostitis is the elderly. There are many causes of this disease. Some are due to knee injuries, some are caused by overwork when young, and some are caused by knee sprains. In any case, patients must receive timely treatment when the disease is discovered.

The synovium of the knee joint is the largest and most complex joint in the human body, and it also forms the largest synovial cavity. Because the knee joint bears heavy loads and moves frequently, it is most susceptible to injury. The synovium is mainly distributed around the joints. It communicates with the joint cavity and secretes lubricating fluid to lubricate the joints. When the synovium is stimulated or directly stimulated by various causes (such as bone hyperplasia, arthritis, joint tuberculosis, rheumatism, traumatic injury, bone injury, intra-articular injury, surrounding soft tissue injury, surgery, etc.), an inflammatory response is produced, and the synovium responds to the inflammatory stimulus by secreting exudate. Strictly speaking, pain occurs as long as there is exudation and effusion in the joints, it proves the presence of synovitis, which is mainly manifested by joint congestion and swelling, pain, increased exudation, joint effusion, difficulty in squatting and limited function.

Knee periostitis is a sterile inflammation caused by poor microcirculation. The main symptom is the production of fluid effusion. The synovium is a layer of membranous tissue surrounding the joint. It is not only a layer of tissue that protects the joint, but also produces synovial fluid to provide "lubricating fluid" for joint movement. The production and absorption of synovial fluid is a "dynamic balance". When there is an obstacle to the reabsorption of synovial fluid, the dynamic balance of the production and absorption of synovial fluid is broken, the production of synovial fluid is greater than the reabsorption, and "joint effusion" will occur.

The above is the introduction about knee periostitis. This disease brings great harm to patients, so when you find the disease, you must treat it in time. Of course, there are many ways to treat this disease. The key is to persist and not give up halfway. During the treatment, you should also do rehabilitation training regularly according to the doctor's instructions.
