What causes pain in upper limb joints?

If you experience pain in the upper limb joints, you should be alert to some causes of arthritis. We know that arthritis is the most common chronic disease and it is very harmful to patients. It often causes abnormal inflammation of bones and joints. The most common ones are arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Therefore, when this symptom appears, you should go to the hospital for examination in time, find out the specific cause, and receive timely treatment.

What are the symptoms of arthritis ? Arthritis can be divided into rheumatic, rheumatoid, traumatic, osteoarthritis and suppurative arthritis according to the cause. 1. Rheumatic Rheumatic arthritis is one of the manifestations of rheumatic fever, which is more common in adults. It often occurs in large joints such as the knees, shoulders, elbows, and wrists. The onset is often after an upper respiratory tract infection, and there will be migratory joint pain, swelling, fever and other manifestations of rheumatic fever. 2. Rheumatoid Rheumatoid arthritis is more common in young and middle-aged people. It has a slow onset and often occurs in the small joints of the hands and feet and the sacroiliac region, and gradually affects joints throughout the body. Initially, the affected joints will show symptoms of redness, swelling, pain, and difficulty in movement, and over time the joints will become deformed or ankylosing.

3. Traumatic Traumatic arthritis is mostly caused by trauma or continuous chronic strain, which leads to degeneration of articular cartilage or formation of bone spurs, manifested by swelling, pain and movement disorders in the affected joints. It is prone to occur in weight-bearing joints such as shoulders, knees, ankles and other joints, and is more common in athletes and young and middle-aged people. 4. Osteoarthritis Osteoarthritis is one of the most common joint diseases. Osteoarthritis has many names, such as hypertrophic osteoarthritis, degenerative arthritis, degenerative arthritis, proliferative osteoarthritis or osteoarthritis, all of which refer to the same disease. Osteoarthritis is used uniformly in China. Its prevalence increases with age and is more common in women than in men. Osteoarthritis is most likely to affect the distal and proximal interphalangeal joints of the hands, the knees, elbows, shoulders, and spinal joints, while the wrist and ankle joints are less likely to be affected. Osteoarthritis is caused by tissue degeneration and cumulative strain, and is more common in obese and overweight middle-aged and elderly people. The most common sites of disease are the knees, fingers, neck, lumbar spine, etc. The main symptoms are joint pain and stiffness (the pain will be relieved after slight activity). In severe cases, joint swelling, muscle atrophy, etc. may occur.

5. Suppurative arthritis Suppurative arthritis is often caused by bacteria invading the joint cavity. It is more common in children and adolescents, and often occurs in the hip joint. The main symptoms are local redness, swelling, pain, heat and dysfunction, as well as high fever and other systemic poisoning symptoms. Regardless of the cause or type of arthritis, it should be diagnosed and treated early to avoid permanent joint dysfunction or even disability.
