Hemorrhagic granuloma

Hemorrhagic granuloma

Some people have a lump on their arm that hurts when touched, but there are no other discomfort symptoms, so they never pay much attention to it. But over time, they find that the lump grows bigger and bigger, becomes more and more painful, and even bleeds. After arriving at the hospital and undergoing examination, I was told that I had a disease called hemorrhagic granuloma. So, what is hemorrhagic granuloma? Let us learn more about this disease through the following.

1. Concept

Granulomas are well-defined nodular lesions formed by localized infiltration and proliferation of macrophages and their evolved cells. The essence of granuloma is inflammation caused by delayed hypersensitivity reaction. Hemorrhagic granuloma refers to the occurrence of granuloma accompanied by bleeding.

2. Type

1 Foreign body granuloma: It is usually centered on foreign bodies that have entered the tissue, and is surrounded by macrophages, fibroblasts, foreign body giant cells, etc. The foreign bodies are generally wood chips, sutures, talcum powder, parasite eggs, etc.

1. Infectious granuloma : usually caused by infection with specific pathogenic microorganisms or parasites, forming characteristic granulomas with relatively diagnostic significance. Common pathogens include Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Salmonella typhi, Treponema pallidum, fungi, etc.

2. Pyogenic granuloma: The so-called pyogenic granuloma refers to a red granulation tissue protruding from the wound due to skin inflammation and improper medication. In essence, it is a mass of vascular proliferation similar to hemangioma.

3. Causes

1. It is formed by the localized infiltration and proliferation of macrophages and their evolved cells. Improper treatment of minor wounds can lead to purulent granulomas.

2. The cause of purulent granuloma is still unclear. It may be related to local inflammatory secretions or external stimuli, and may also be related to personal constitution.

Symptoms

Pyogenic granulomas may bleed easily. The disease commonly occurs on the limbs and face, but can also occur on the hands and feet. When the granulation is small, it is the size of a sesame seed or a pinhead, often the size of a mung bean or soybean, but it can grow larger.

5. Hazards

Pyogenic granuloma may seem like a minor illness, but it is actually very troublesome, especially when the granuloma grows on the palms, soles or near the nails. It is often difficult to treat and is prone to recurrence.

6. Treatment

1. If the granuloma grows on the palms, soles or near the nails, it will increase the difficulty of treatment. Because the stratum corneum in these areas is very thick and the blood circulation is poor, it is not easy to completely remove the diseased blood vessels. If the burn is too small, the root of the wound cannot be eliminated and it will continue to grow in the future; if the burn is too large, it will be difficult to heal, and picking up things and walking will irritate the wound, which may lead to secondary infection.

2. Generally, high-frequency electricity is used to cauterize the affected area to cause the blood vessels to contract. Surgical resection can also be used to remove the lesion. In addition, malignant melanoma can sometimes present as a purulent granuloma, so the excised tissue should be pathologically examined.

6. Prevention

1. To prevent small wounds from turning into big troubles, you should use iodine tincture and other external antibacterial preparations to disinfect them from the beginning to prevent wound infection and promote healing. If the wound has not healed after one week, the redness and swelling of the affected area worsen, or there is granulation tissue proliferation, you should go to a dermatologist for regular treatment and do not delay further treatment.

2. Also, be careful not to cut the surrounding skin when cutting your nails. It is best to trim your nails to be round, blunt, and smooth, without any sharp corners or thorns.

3. Strengthen nutrition, enhance physical fitness and improve self-immune function.

4. Avoid wind, cold and dampness, avoid excessive fatigue, avoid smoking and drinking, and avoid eating spicy food.
