Bladder irrigation method

1. Insert the urinary catheter according to the catheterization technique and fix the urinary catheter according to the indwelling catheter method.

2. Pour the solution into the flushing bottle and hang it on the infusion stand (the bottom of the bottle should be 60 cm away from the edge of the bed). When the patient feels like urinating (or after 200-300ml of the solution has been dripped in), clamp the flushing tube, open the drainage tube, drain all the flushing fluid out, then clamp the drainage tube again, and flush repeatedly as needed. Bladder irrigation precautions

1. Strictly follow aseptic techniques to prevent nosocomial infection.

2. In cold weather, the flushing solution should be heated to 38-40℃ to prevent cold stimulation of the bladder.

3. During flushing, pay attention to the properties of the drainage fluid. If there is fresh blood, catheter blockage, or the patient feels severe pain or discomfort, stop flushing immediately and report to the doctor.

Commonly used bladder irrigation solutions

Normal saline, 0.02% nitrofurazone solution, 3% boric acid solution, 0.2% chlorhexidine, 0.1% furanol solution, 2.5% acetic acid.
