Non-menstrual bleeding with abdominal pain

Non-menstrual bleeding with abdominal pain

It is normal for women to bleed during their menstrual period, but if it is non-menstrual bleeding, everyone must pay attention to it. It is likely that you have a gynecological disease or are pregnant. If a woman who has sexual life bleeds during her non-menstrual period, it is best to go to the hospital for an early pregnancy test. It is likely that she is pregnant. If it is determined that she is not pregnant, it may be caused by diseases such as cervicitis and cervical polyps. It is recommended that women go to the hospital to find out the cause.

What's wrong with a small amount of bleeding during menstruation?

If there is a small amount of bleeding not during the menstrual period, it can be divided into many situations. If there is bleeding after sexual intercourse, it is contact bleeding, which is generally caused by some gynecological diseases, such as vaginitis, cervical polyps, cervical erosion, etc.; it may also be ovulation bleeding, which is because the estrogen level in the body has a temporary drop, causing the endometrium to be unbalanced in its support for hormones and causing partial shedding, leading to regular vaginal bleeding. Of course, there is also functional uterine bleeding, which is referred to as functional uterine bleeding. It is mainly caused by abnormal regulation of reproductive neuroendocrine function, and there will be irregular menstrual cycles, prolonged menstruation, excessive menstrual flow or irregular bleeding symptoms.

It may also be caused by bleeding after artificial abortion or miscarriage. Generally, the bleeding will stop three to seven days after the abortion or miscarriage. If the body is weak and is affected by multiple factors such as fatigue, the bleeding time will be prolonged. Specific analysis is required for specific circumstances. In addition, it may be caused by hydatidiform mole. After regular treatment, if the bleeding reappears within two years, it may be an early symptom of malignant hydatidiform mole. You must be vigilant and seek medical attention immediately.

If a small amount of bleeding occurs during a period other than menstruation, it may be caused by a gynecological disease, a decrease in estrogen levels in the body, or an abortion or miscarriage.

Common non-menstrual vaginal bleeding includes the following:

"Ovulation bleeding". Western medicine calls it ovulation bleeding, while traditional Chinese medicine calls it "intermenstrual bleeding." Some people only have a small amount of brown discharge, which usually lasts for half a day or 2-3 days, and no more than 7 days at most, and may be accompanied by mild ovulation pain and back pain.

If the symptoms are mild, no treatment is required, but if the symptoms are obvious and may affect fertility, treatment should be given.

Dysfunctional uterine bleeding. It usually manifests itself in irregular menstrual cycles, heavy menstrual flow, prolonged menstrual periods or irregular bleeding. The principle of treatment is to stop bleeding quickly, adjust and establish a normal menstrual cycle after stopping bleeding, and prevent recurrence. Due to long-term bleeding, some people also have varying degrees of anemia, so correcting anemia is also very important.

If menstruation is delayed for 7-10 days before bleeding occurs, do not assume that it is definitely late. You should pay attention to whether the amount, color, and duration of bleeding are the same as normal menstruation. If the menstrual blood is sometimes more, sometimes less, and is continuous, and is accompanied by abdominal pain, you should be careful about the possibility of ectopic pregnancy or threatened abortion. If the bleeding is more than usual, lasts longer, and dysmenorrhea is obvious, it is more common in uterine fibroids or endometriosis. It is necessary to seek medical treatment promptly.

The phenomenon of vaginal bleeding after sexual intercourse is called contact bleeding, which is often related to gynecological diseases such as vaginitis, cervical erosion, cervical polyps, early cervical cancer, and submucosal myomas. You should see a gynecologist as soon as possible.

Some women also experience vaginal bleeding after taking emergency contraceptive pills. Emergency contraceptive pills can affect the menstrual cycle, especially repeated use can lead to menstrual disorders, bleeding, and continuous spotting. It is also important to remind you that some women may have their menstruation affected due to the abuse of "health products" and "breast enhancement medicines and creams" containing hormones.

Generally, vaginal bleeding will stop about 3-7 days after an abortion or miscarriage. In very few people, it may be prolonged due to physical weakness, fatigue, etc., but this needs to be judged by a doctor. If there are no special circumstances and vaginal bleeding lasts longer, after excluding intraoperative injuries, cervical inflammation and the like, it is very likely that there are residual tumors in the uterus. The doctor will then decide whether to use medication or uterine curettage after examination. Otherwise, after a period of time, the residual fetal membrane tissue may turn into choriocarcinoma.

If a woman who has had a hydatidiform mole experiences persistent vaginal bleeding again within two years after regular treatment, it may be an early symptom of a malignant hydatidiform mole and she should see a doctor immediately.
