Things to note when having double eyelid surgery

Double eyelid surgery is the most common type of plastic surgery and also the simplest type. Although the surgery is relatively simple, you still need to pay attention to care after the surgery to prevent infection and avoid failure of the surgery. Therefore, you need to understand some precautions. After the surgery, you need to cover the eyelid with gauze and press it for about half an hour to avoid bleeding. The gauze can be removed the next day. After that, you need to be careful not to get it wet and pay attention to diet.

Things to note when having double eyelid surgery

Things to know after surgery: 1. Postoperative pressure bandage: After the operation, the upper eyelid will be covered with a gauze strip. The doctor will ask you to wait for half an hour before leaving. The purpose is to prevent bleeding. Come to the hospital on the second day after the operation to remove the gauze from the eye. Do not remove it by yourself, because the blood stains and gauze of the incision are often stuck together, and forcibly tearing it off will tear the eye wound. 2. Precautions for double eyelid surgery also include not getting the incision wet before removing the stitches after surgery, applying erythromycin eye ointment on the incision once a day with a sterile cotton swab, wearing sunglasses when going out to avoid sunlight irritation to the wound and prevent scar proliferation. Patients with enlarged canthus should use antibiotic eye drops in the corners of the eyes several times a day. When there is secretion from the corners of the eyes, use a sterile cotton swab dipped in eye drops and gently wipe away the secretion from the corners of the eyes.

3. There will be some pain in the wound on the day of operation, but it will gradually ease over time. Patients should not rush to take painkillers, because aspirin-like drugs will aggravate wound bleeding. Avoiding the abuse of drugs is a particularly important point in the precautions for double eyelid surgery. 4. For patients who have undergone blepharoplasty, the stitches should be removed 5 to 7 days after the operation. Sometimes after the stitches are removed, there will be tiny thread ends left in the wound. Over time, the thread ends will slowly push out or be absorbed by themselves. 5. During the recovery period, pay attention to strengthening the exercise of eye muscles. Only by continuously strengthening the exercise of opening your eyes wide can you promote blood circulation in the eye muscles and surrounding tissues, reduce and gradually eliminate swelling in the surgical area, and promote the early absorption of surgical blood stasis. 6. During the recovery period, you should rest in a quiet and comfortable environment, and the indoor air should be fresh and circulated to maintain a certain temperature. Dietary considerations for double eyelid surgery include increasing protein intake and eating more fruits and fresh vegetables. Do not see within 1 week after surgery

Postoperative Care

1. Keep the wound clean to prevent infection. (Oral: Burning Desire in the Stairwell) Routine oral antibiotics. Be careful not to wet the wound when washing your face. If there is blood scab or secretion on the wound, wipe it with sterile saline or medical alcohol.

2. Prevention and treatment of bleeding, bruises or hematomas from surgical wounds. Apply ice packs for 48 hours after surgery, apply mild pressure, and then apply heat after 48 hours, but the pressure should not be too high to avoid damaging the eyes. Be careful not to expose your eyes to external impact, intense exercise or volatile emotions, as these may cause bleeding, bruising or hematoma.

3. It is best to rest in a semi-recumbent position (with the pillow raised) to avoid excessive eye fatigue or a low head position that may aggravate the swelling of the wound. If there is obvious redness and swelling at the suture site 2 to 3 days after the buried suture method of double eyelid surgery. This situation indicates a high possibility of infection. It is important to seek medical attention early, open drainage in time, and remove sutures, otherwise the infection will be difficult to control.
