Thyroid cancer lymph node metastasis

Thyroid cancer lymph node metastasis

Thyroid cancer is a relatively common malignant tumor, and if it is not treated in time, it can easily cause cancer cells to metastasize, causing more serious harm to the patient's body. Among the many types of thyroid cancer metastasis, lymph node metastasis is the most common one. Therefore, when thyroid cancer patients are found to have symptoms of lymph node metastasis, they must pay attention to treatment.

When treating thyroid cancer lymph metastasis, patients need to pay attention that although there are many methods to treat thyroid cancer now, many methods are not applicable to thyroid cancer lymph metastasis. The treatment of thyroid cancer lymph metastasis must be based on the patient's own condition. The commonly used treatment methods for thyroid cancer lymph node metastasis are as follows:

1. Surgical treatment of thyroid cancer lymph node metastasis: Surgical treatment of thyroid cancer lymph node metastasis has certain contraindications. Generally, for patients with extensive lymph node metastases, but the tumor is still confined to the lymph node capsule and the mobility is still good, surgery can be used to completely remove it; medullary thyroid cancer is not sensitive to chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and thorough surgical treatment is still one of the effective methods; during surgical treatment of undifferentiated cancer, patients with lymph node metastasis should undergo radical neck resection, which can improve the survival rate of anaplastic thyroid cancer. Neck surgery is difficult for patients with mediastinal lymph node metastasis of thyroid cancer, and sternotomy and mediastinal dissection should be performed actively. For lesions confined to the upper mediastinum, mediastinal dissection via the sternotomy approach has not significantly improved the survival rate, but because of its good surgical field exposure, it is suitable for patients with a large number of metastatic lymph nodes or close relationship with large blood vessels.

2. Radiotherapy for lymph node metastasis of thyroid cancer: Radiotherapy is one of the local treatments for lymph node metastasis of thyroid cancer. The effect of radiotherapy is affected by the biological effects of radiation. Therefore, most scholars currently do not advocate simple radiotherapy for patients with lymph node metastasis of thyroid cancer. It can be combined with traditional Chinese medicine for adjuvant treatment before and after radical surgery and palliative treatment of advanced thyroid cancer. However, radiotherapy often kills a large number of normal cells while killing cancer cells, which is not conducive to the postoperative recovery of thyroid cancer and the subsequent consolidation treatment.

Chemotherapy for lymph node metastasis of thyroid cancer: The purpose of chemotherapy for lymph node metastasis of thyroid cancer is to control and kill residual cancer cells in the local area after surgery and potential micro-metastasis foci throughout the body, so as to reduce the occurrence of tumor recurrence and metastasis rate. Patients with thyroid cancer lymph node metastasis can receive a combination of chemotherapy and Chinese medicine treatment, provided that their own immune tolerance is good. This can kill residual cancer cells while preventing cancer recurrence and metastasis, reduce chemotherapy side effects, enhance immune resistance, and improve patients' quality of life.

After understanding the above content, do you know how to treat lymph metastasis of thyroid cancer? In addition to the above three methods for the treatment of thyroid cancer lymph metastasis, there is another more practical method, which is to use traditional Chinese medicine for treatment. It can avoid the side effects of chemotherapy and the effect is also relatively good.
