Do unsaturated fatty acids make you fat?

Do unsaturated fatty acids make you fat?

In the Tang Dynasty, fat was considered beautiful, but nowadays people prefer thin people to fat people. People admire skinny figures and hate obesity. There are many reasons for obesity. Some people are prone to obesity and will gain weight by eating anything. Some people have difficulty digesting food, and the food they eat is accumulated as fat in the body, causing weight gain. Let us now understand whether consuming unsaturated fatty acids will make you fat?

Unsaturated fatty acids are further divided into monounsaturated fatty acids and polyunsaturated fatty acids.

Polyunsaturated fatty acids, such as linoleic acid and linolenic acid, are essential fatty acids for the human body. Polyunsaturated fatty acids have an easygoing personality and are great for socializing; they can make friends with anyone. So although they have the important effects of lowering bad cholesterol (LDL) and promoting fetal brain growth and development during pregnancy, unfortunately, they also lower the level of good cholesterol (HDL). They also have a fatal drawback, as they are unstable in nature and can be easily oxidized during high-temperature cooking to form free radicals. Free radicals can accelerate cell aging and the development of cancer. For humans, this is something that makes them turn pale. Oils containing more polyunsaturated fatty acids include sunflower oil (containing 68%), soybean oil (containing 59%), corn oil (containing 57%), sesame oil (containing 46%), peanut oil (containing 38%), rapeseed oil (containing 25%), etc. Fish oil is different from other animal oils in that it also contains more polyunsaturated fatty acids.

Monounsaturated fatty acid (oleic acid) has a moderate personality. Although it is not as stable as saturated fatty acids, it is still relatively stable. It can lower bad cholesterol and maintain or slightly increase good cholesterol, which is beneficial to the health of the heart, brain, and kidney blood vessels. The oils containing more monounsaturated fatty acids are olive oil (83%), rapeseed oil (79%), peanut oil (41%), sesame oil (38%), corn oil (27%), and soybean oil (22%).

Psoriasis is a disease caused by low immune function. Suggestions: Treatment experience, quit smoking and drinking, do not use hormones (dexamethasone, prednisone, dermatitis medication, etc.) unless it is for rescue. Although hormones are temporarily effective, they damage the immune function. Discontinuation of hormones will lead to recurrent attacks and worsening of the condition. Drugs that improve immune function, temporarily effective non-hormonal drugs, allergy drugs, and anti-tuberculosis drugs should be added to smoothly reduce and stop hormones, and continue to take the medication to restore and maintain normal immune function and achieve a cure.

Typical examples of saturated fatty acids are stearic acid and palmitic acid. These two types of fatty acids are milky white in color and have a hard texture. They are mostly found in animal fats, such as butter, mutton, lard, etc. However, this does not mean that animal fats are saturated fatty acids - this is a wrong concept, and this is the mistake made by the second floor! It’s just that the content of stearic acid and palmitic acid in animal fats is relatively high. On the other hand, plant oils such as rapeseed oil, corn oil, cottonseed oil, and soybean oil contain relatively high levels of unsaturated fatty acids (oleic acid, linoleic acid, etc.), but that does not mean that there is no saturated fatty acid! Saturated fatty acids are found in almost all foods! ! Of course, it is contained in more animal fats, less in vegetable fats, and very little in vegetables and fruits.
