What causes high insulin levels?

Insulin is the only hormone in the human body that can lower blood sugar. It can promote the synthesis of glycogen, protein and fat. If the insulin level is too high, it will often lead to some diseases. For women, it is easy to cause infertility. It is easy to cause high insulin and affect ovulation. Therefore, women must pay attention to avoid high blood sugar. There are many reasons for high blood pressure, the most common ones are high blood pressure or obesity.

What causes high insulin levels?

Hypertension or obesity impairs the biological effects of insulin in hypertensive patients. At this time, the human body becomes resistant to insulin. In order to maintain a relatively normal blood sugar level, their body's self-regulating mechanism causes its pancreatic beta cells to secrete several times or even dozens of times more insulin than normal to lower blood sugar, which results in hyperinsulinemia. Hyperinsulinemia was defined as fasting insulin ≥85 pmol/L.

High insulin levels generally mean that your insulin sensitivity is not enough, your blood sugar is high, and your insulin is being secreted but cannot be lowered.

Problems that may occur if insulin levels are too high:

Excessive insulin levels can lead to hypoglycemia, especially during exercise. In addition, hyperinsulinemia is a common cause of coronary heart disease, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and stroke.

What to do if insulin is high?

1. Strengthen physical exercise: Physical activity can increase tissue sensitivity to insulin, reduce body weight, improve metabolism, reduce insulin resistance, relieve hyperinsulinemia, and reduce cardiovascular complications.

2. Improve the dietary structure: If people’s dietary structure is mainly high in calories and fat. If calorie intake exceeds consumption, it will cause fat accumulation in the body and lead to obesity. Therefore, the diet should be diversified to maintain nutritional balance and avoid overnutrition.

3. Drug treatment: If the disease needs to be treated with drugs, it must be taken under the guidance of a doctor while monitoring to adjust hormone levels to a healthy index range.
