What are the symptoms of chlamydia infection?

Suddenly, you may feel a stinging and burning sensation in your urethra, and in severe cases, you may have difficulty urinating. For female patients, it may endanger the entire reproductive organs and eventually lead to infertility. In addition, the detailed symptoms include the following:

1. Male chlamydial urethritis , also known as non-gonococcal urethritis (NGU). It is a non-acute suppurative urethral mucosal inflammatory lesion caused by Chlamydia infection.

(1) The incubation period of this disease is longer than that of gonorrhea, about 1-3 weeks or several months. The main symptoms are discomfort, stinging and burning sensation in the urethra, accompanied by varying degrees of frequent urination, urgency and pain. The pain in urination is milder than that of gonorrhea. The urethral opening is slightly red and swollen, and there is serous or mucopurulent secretion, which is thin and small in quantity. If you do not urinate for a long time or before the first urination in the morning, you can see that the urethral opening secretions will contaminate the underwear, and there may be a "sticky" phenomenon at the urethral opening. When the secretion is small, a small amount of mucus will flow out when you squeeze the urethra in the morning.

(2) Chlamydia trachomatis infection is prone to be complicated by epididymitis, which is manifested by epididymal enlargement, hardening and tenderness, mostly unilaterally. Anti-Chlamydia trachomatis antibodies are elevated in some patients, and Chlamydia trachomatis can be directly isolated from epididymal aspirate fluid. Testicular involvement may cause orchitis, which is manifested by testicular pain, tenderness, scrotal edema, and hardening and thickening of the vas deferens. When the prostate is involved, dull pain or tenderness may occur in the posterior urethra, perineum and anus, and there may be sexual dysfunction. Rectoscopy may touch a tender prostate. If the prostate is significantly enlarged, it may compress the posterior urethra and cause a thinner urine flow, weak urination, and interrupted urine flow. The disease may also be combined with Reiter's syndrome, which is a triad of arthritis, conjunctivitis, and urethritis.

2. Chlamydia infection of the female reproductive system.

(1) Chlamydia infection in women is not limited to the urethra, but can affect the entire urogenital organs. This type of infection is often neglected due to the lack of subjective symptoms or mild symptoms, which leads to the spread of infection and harm.

(2) Chlamydia infection in women causes more symptoms than in men. The main site of infection is the cervix, and its sequelae often lead to infertility.
