Can I get pregnant if I have bacterial vaginosis?

Bacterial vaginosis has a great impact on the health of the female reproductive system. The condition is relatively complicated. If it is not treated well, it can easily cause infertility in women. This harm is relatively large, so it is necessary to carry out good treatment in time. There are many treatment methods. Oral and topical medications can be used for anti-inflammatory treatment. In addition, in daily life, we must also emphasize health and avoid unclean sexual behavior.

Can I get pregnant if I have bacterial vaginosis?

Bacterial vaginosis can cause infertility, so it must be treated promptly. When the body's estrogen level drops, the vaginal epithelium atrophies and the cell glycogen decreases, which is not conducive to the growth of lactobacilli. Large amounts of antibiotics or excessive vaginal flushing with alkaline fluids inhibit the growth of lactobacilli. Long-term lack of attention to sexual hygiene can lead to the massive proliferation of pathogenic anaerobic bacteria and Gardnerella, causing an imbalance in the vaginal microbial ecology. The reduction of facultative aerobic lactobacilli leads to the occurrence of bacterial vulvovaginitis.

Once bacterial vaginosis is diagnosed, patients should be treated promptly. You should not conceive at this time. In addition to causing trouble to the mother's reproductive health, patients with severe bacterial infections will also be affected in their normal work and study. During pregnancy, this hazard naturally increases because it also endangers the fetus - at the mildest, it causes fetal movement disorders, and at the worst, it leads to premature birth or miscarriage, directly threatening the development and health of the fetus.

Clinical observations have shown that bacterial vaginosis is associated with premature rupture of membranes and intrauterine infection. Therefore, it is sufficient to show that conception under such circumstances is extremely detrimental to eugenics. However, patients do not need to worry too much, as recovery will not affect pregnancy.

Treatment of bacterial vaginosis

1. General treatment: Keep the vulva clean and dry and avoid scratching. Do not eat spicy foods. Change your underwear frequently and wash it with warm water. Do not mix it with other clothes to avoid cross infection. 2. Drug treatment (1) Metronidazole is currently considered to have reliable efficacy, taken twice a day for 7 consecutive days. (2) Methicillin (clomiphene) is used for 3 days. (3) Thiamphenicol (Thiamycin) is effective against a variety of Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, and has a good therapeutic effect on the growth of anaerobic bacteria, so it can also be used. (4) Cleansing and ampicillin can also be used. In recent years, it has been advocated that no treatment is needed for asymptomatic people. 3. Local therapy can use topical medications, such as metronidazole suppositories, once a night for 7 consecutive days. 4. If other pathogens are detected during the treatment of complications, use medications targeting other pathogens to avoid the abuse of antibiotics. Pay attention to the medication for systemic conditions, and provide support and immunotherapy at the same time, and pay attention to adverse drug reactions.
