Why do I feel itchy all over in autumn?

Many people experience obvious changes in their bodies when the seasons change, especially in their skin condition. The weather in autumn is relatively dry. When people reach spring or autumn, their skin may become dehydrated and peel off. In addition, they may also experience obvious symptoms such as itching all over the body. The causes of this phenomenon are relatively complicated. So why does one feel itchy all over the body in autumn?

1. Skin diseases

Many culprits of itching are skin diseases. Some skin itching is obvious and persistent, and it is easy to recur, but there is no preceding or concurrent rash. This kind of itching should be paid attention to, as it may be a manifestation of certain diseases and should be treated early. In addition, there is another type of itching, which is the common senile winter pruritus. The elderly have a slower metabolism, dry and wrinkled skin, and the nerve endings in their skin age and degenerate, sending abnormal stimulation signals to the nerve center, thus causing itching and pain symptoms.

2. Blood system diseases

If systemic itching with tingling and burning sensations occurs, which worsens in the summer and after a hot bath and resolves on its own after half an hour, this itching is typical of polycythemia vera. In addition, 15%-20% of people with iron deficiency anemia will experience local or systemic itching symptoms, which will gradually disappear after iron supplementation and improvement of anemia.

3. Digestive system diseases

However, when the bile salt concentration in the human body's serum and skin increases and stimulates nerve endings, it will cause systemic skin itching. Common diseases include systemic jaundice, hemolytic jaundice, etc.

4. Central nervous system diseases

People with diseases such as cerebral edema, cerebral arteriosclerosis or neurasthenia often also experience symptoms of skin itching, which is caused by the itch threshold of central nervous receptors. In addition, patients with brain tumors often experience severe and persistent itching near the nostrils or on the entire cheek. This is caused by the brain tumor invading the bottom of the fourth ventricle.
