The difference between Achyranthes bidentata and Achyranthes bidentata

Both Chinese rhubarb and Achyranthes bidentata are relatively common Chinese medicines. Although there are similarities between them, they are two completely different things. For example, Achyranthes bidentata is a plant of the genus Achyranthes bidentata in the Amaranthaceae family, while Chinese rhubarb is also called inverted hook grass. They are completely different from each other and can both have certain effects on body conditioning. They are also relatively common Chinese herbal medicines. Achyranthes bidentata has a certain anti-tumor effect.

The difference between Achyranthes bidentata and Achyranthes bidentata

Achyranthes bidentata is a plant of the genus Achyranthes bidentata in the family Amaranth

It is distributed in Africa, Russia, Vietnam, India, Malaysia, the Philippines, North Korea, and all parts of China except the Northeast. The spike inflorescence is terminating and axillary, 3-5cm long, and reflexed after flowering; the peduncle is 1-2cm long, with white soft hairs; the flowers are numerous, densely grown, and 5mm long; the bracts are broadly ovate, 2-3mm long, and gradually pointed at the apex; the bracteoles are spiny, 2.5-3mm long, with curved apex, and an ovate membranous lobe on each side of the base.

Achyranthes bidentata

Amaranthaceae, a perennial herb of the Amaranthaceae family and the genus Achyranthes bidentata, is 20-120 cm tall with slender roots, earthy yellow quadrangular stems with soft hairs, slightly swollen nodes, and opposite branches. Leaves papery, broadly ovate-obovate or elliptic-oblong, obtuse at apex, with a pointed tip, cuneate or rounded base, entire or wavy margin, densely pubescent on both sides, or nearly glabrous; reflexed after flowering; peduncle angular, stout, hard, densely covered with white appressed or spreading pubescent hairs; fruit ovate, seeds ovate, not flattened, brown. The flowering period is from June to August, and the fruiting period is October.

The decoction has a significant anti-tumor therapeutic effect in the human body. The Achyranthes bidentata preparation can neutralize the diphtheria toxin in animals and has the effect of preventing diphtheria. The decoction or alcohol extract of Achyranthes bidentata has a short-term hypotensive effect when injected intravenously into drunk dogs, predators and rabbits. The decoction of Achyranthes bidentata has a slight diuretic effect when injected intravenously into anesthetized rabbits, and has a certain analgesic effect when injected intraperitoneally into mice that have been torsion-induced by acetic acid. Achyranthes bidentata decoction has a mild inhibitory effect on the isolated intestine of animals. The decoction and fluid extract of Achyranthes bidentata can contract the isolated uterus of rabbits, whether pregnant or not; and can strengthen the contraction of the isolated uterus of mice with weak contraction.
