If a person's back muscles are in a tense state for a long time, such as long-term labor, long-term sitting, or repeated excessive waist movements, it will cause lumbar muscle strain. Of course, lumbar muscle strain can also be congenital. Congenital deficiencies lead to poor development of the lumbar muscles. Acquired climate and environmental conditions can also have an impact. Wind and cold evil spirits taking advantage of the opportunity to invade the human body or acute lumbar sprain can cause lumbar muscle strain. The main purpose of moxibustion is to unblock meridians and activate collaterals to treat lumbar muscle strain. So which part should be moxibustioned? The main acupoints for moxibustion are: Ashi point: which is the location of local pain. Shenshu: Located on the waist, 1.5 inches below the spinous process of the second lumbar vertebra (1.5 inches away from Mingmen). Its main functions are: replenishing Yang Qi, strengthening the kidneys, strengthening the waist and removing excess water. Zhishi: On the waist, 3 inches lateral to the second lumbar spine. The main function is to dissipate the internal heat of the kidneys and lower the external temperature. Weizhong: Located in the middle of the popliteal fossa transverse line. The main function is to treat acute lumbar sprain, low back pain, lower limb paralysis, cramps, etc.
Large Intestine Shu: On the waist, 1.5 inches lateral to the spinous process of the 4th lumbar vertebra. In prone position, locate the acupoint 1.5 inches away from Yaoyangguan (Du Meridian). Its main function is to regulate qi and reduce adverse reactions, and harmonize the intestines and stomach. Combined acupoints: For those with excessive dampness, add Yinlingquan and Sanyinjiao; for those with kidney deficiency, add Mingmen, Guanyuan and Taixi. Note: This disease belongs to the category of "low back pain" and arthritis in traditional Chinese medicine. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that it is mostly related to cold, dampness, strain, kidney deficiency, etc. The wind, cold and dampness invade the meridians, and the meridians are blocked when bending over to bear weight, resulting in poor circulation of qi and blood. It may also be caused by long-term illness, kidney deficiency, excessive work, insufficient essence and blood, and lack of nourishment to the tendons and veins. Lumbar muscle strain is one of the common causes of low back pain. The main symptoms are swelling and soreness in the waist or lumbosacral area, which recurs repeatedly. The pain may vary with climate changes or degree of fatigue. Moxibustion can indeed be used to treat lumbar muscle strain. Generally speaking, these acupoints are mainly moxibustioned. Shenshu: On the waist, 1.5 inches lateral to the spinous process of the second lumbar vertebra; Zhishi: On the waist, 3 inches lateral to the spinous process of the second lumbar vertebra; Dachangshu: On the waist, 1.5 inches lateral to the spinous process of the fourth lumbar vertebra; Ashi point, which is the local pain area. Do not take a shower immediately after each moxibustion, keep warm |
