There are many reasons for shivering. The mildest is the normal reaction caused by cold weather, followed by emotional fluctuations and shivering caused by anger. The most serious is shivering caused by illness. Although shivering caused by anger is not very serious, you should also pay attention to controlling your emotions. Anger will still be more or less harmful to the body. As for shivering due to illness, it should be taken seriously. Shivering can be considered from two aspects: first, non-organic, such as mental and emotional factors causing shivering, which is not a big problem and needs to be controlled. Second, pathological ones are organic problems, such as Parkinson's disease caused by brain lesions. There are also some that are related to genetics and caused by brain diseases, such as essential tremor. Then there are metabolic diseases, like hyperthyroidism. 1. Physiological tremor It is a normal physiological phenomenon rather than a disease. The tremor is small and rapid. Normal people have this kind of tremor but it is not obvious and unconscious. In some cases, physiological tremors can be intensified and become severe and noticeable. Common causes that can intensify physiological tremors are as follows: emotional excitement, fear of cold, low blood sugar, hyperthyroidism, alcohol or drug withdrawal symptoms, and the effects of drugs or caffeine. This type of tremor accounts for the highest proportion of all tremor disorders. The cause of this type of tremor is unknown. It is generally believed to be related to personal physique. Half of them have a family history of the disease, so this tremor is closely related to genetics. 2. Constitutional or hereditary tremors It occurs in all age groups, but the older you are, the more severe the tremor will be. It mainly occurs in the hands, but also often in the head, and even in the voice. The sound trembles. The tremor is particularly obvious when the hands are in a fixed position or when making fine movements. It is relieved when resting. Some patients will experience less tremor after drinking. The course of this tremor is slowly deteriorating, and no other neurological symptoms will occur. There are some variant subtypes of constitutional or hereditary tremor, such as: Tremors that occur only when moving, tremors that occur when resting and maintaining a fixed posture, and tremors that occur only when writing (writing tremor) Simple voice tremor, chin tremor, simple tongue tremor, standing tremor. 3. Tremors in Parkinson's disease It occurs in middle-aged and elderly people, mainly in the hands and feet. It is particularly obvious when resting and will be alleviated when moving. This characteristic is the opposite of physical or hereditary tremors. The course of the disease continues to worsen and is accompanied by other neurological symptoms of Parkinson's disease. |
